Police Do a Good Job – The on campus police do a good job of enforcing the rules. They make everything fair to all students and don't single out individuals.
College Senior 2010-08-06T16:48:43Z
Appartments Are Reasonable – There are a large variety of apartments and homes to rent in the local area. Most of these are cheep or at least afordable.

Great food, but it gets old – The food here is fantastic. You'll never go hungry as you can go 24 hours a day during the week and it is all you can eat. Every dining hall has their own specialty items and they are all good. The only thing is, you have to keep it really varied or you'll grow sick of it by the end of the year. Stir fry from o-house is great, for example, but it needs to be a once a week thing or it gets old. Try to mix it up and hit every dining hall, but that will be difficult depending on your schedule and where you live. Freshman will eat 90% of their meals in Bolton and Bolton doesn't have any items that really stand out.
Overall, it is good food and I am staying on the meal plan even though I am moving off campus this year.

Parking rates are reasonable and there are a lot of lots/locations provided. Parking decks are the most expensive, and require either a permit or a daily fee. Usually, there are a lot of spaces still open in the parking decks.

Wait It Out for the Best – UGA is a big school, so of course some housing units are gigantic! Underclassmen have it the worst for dorms--typical dorms with a tight space, located the farthest away from the main area of the campus. However, upperclassmen get the perks as they are provided either suites or apartment style dorms! So I guess you just have to wait it out.

Health & Safety:
"You're SAFE!" – I have never felt unsafe on campus. Police and campus security constantly patrol the campus, and they even provide the "escort service" in which you can call campus security to escort you to your dorm, library, etc. at anytime. Furthermore, to gain entry into housing buildings, you must either present your UGA card to the security person behind the desk and/or scan your UGA card to unlock the doors.

What a School! UGA is known as a party school, but how one chooses to view that statement varies. Sure, you can join go out and party at dorms, apartments, and bars and go crazy, or you can join some of your friends for a nice night out in downtown Athens. Athens itself is a gorgeous city with an old-school charm, so the possibilities of activities are endless!

Apartments Are Negotiable – Due to being downtown, UGA has a wide variety of off-campus housing options. These off-campus housing locations are very close to campus which provide for an easy commute. However, the costs of such housing locations may be a little on the expensive side, but if you room with other people, splitting the cost can easily lower the rent!

Curriculum Like No Other – Along with offering traditional classroom studies, UGA also offers study abroad which gives students the wonderful opportunity to travel to different countries and study. Likewise, the curriculum at UGA is designed to keep students engaged and responsive. Furthermore, the availability of different courses keeps students interests varied and open to new things.

THE RAIN – It stinks to walk through the rain on campus. Not all of the bus stops have shelters. I have invested in a rain jacket, umbrella, and rain boots so hopefully this upcoming year will be better!

The Buses – I find the transportation to be awesome at UGA. There are two bus systems that run through the campus and both are free for the students.

Greeks and Geeks – The Greek system is a big part of UGA. Most people who aren't in a fraternity or sorority have generally negative views about members.

PARTY TIME EXCELLENT – You can pretty much find a party any night of the week and down town Athens is always busy. The only problems you will encounter will be if you are under 21, but if you can find a friend or friend of a friend, and trust me you will always find one, who;s having a party then you can get your thrills on.

The football team is a big part of UGA. That is probably the understatement of the year but I can't think of another way to put it. Every saturday during fall semester is spent either going to a game or getting ready to attend the next game. Oh and it isn't just the students that get into the groove alumni, professors and pretty much all of the University staff gets in a frenzy to see the bulldogs take the field.

Learning Center – The Learning Center at UGA are very good. There are study rooms where groups of two or more people are able to occupy as to not disturb others. The building is littered with computers. The building is only two years old and very modern.

The computers at the University of Georgia are very good. The learning center has four floors of computers and other equipment. Wireless can be accessed practically everywhere on campus; and in dorms where wireless is not available ethernet cables are used. The network hardly has any problems. Most people have their own laptops, but not having one will not put you at a disadvantage.

College Is Where You Go to Get High. The drug scene at the University of Georgia is very noticeable. A large part of it comes from the pressure to do well in school and the fact that the drugs are readily available. The most obvious drugs used, from my perspective, are marijuana and prescription drugs. These drugs are so obvious because they are more readily and because they don't have as much of a negative stigma. Also they are viewed as safe and in the case of prescription drugs necessary parts of college life. When you're facing an eight a.m. organic chemistry test a magic pill that helps you remember everything seems pretty nice.

A New Meal Plan – The food on campus is overall great. Every year I sign up for the meal plan because it is both convenient and enjoyable. The most positive aspect of UGA dinning services is that Snelling Dinning Hall is open 24 hrs. A negative aspect of the dinning services is that there are only two meal plans available. The two plans are 5 day meal plan or 7 day meal plan. This forces the student to choose basically whether to have the meal plan or not. Although the food is delicious, it can get old after awhile, therefore, I would prefer if the meal plan was based on a credit system where eat meal would be a credit. This would allow maximum efficiency for the students and more control over the meals eaten.

Old and New – Being one of the oldest public universities in the country, UGA's facilities are very old. Some building have been here since the very first freshman class, fortunately, renovations have been taken place to ensure safety and a comfortable learning environment. In addition to the old facilities, UGA has built new facilities. The new Miller Learning Center is a huge building that consists of classrooms, computer labs, and individual student classrooms. Its located at the center of campus, which is convenient for everybody. Another new building is the new Reed dormitory located at east campus. This new dormitory's layout is apartment style, which will provide students with a very comfortable living situation.

The Perfect College Town – Athens, Georgia, approximately an hour and half from metro Atlanta, is home to the University of Georgia. Although it does not compare in size with metro Atlanta, Athens, Georgia makes up for it with its vibrant small town atmosphere. Downtown, there are hundreds of places to eat, shop, and when of legal age drink. These are popular among college students because during school years, the streets are filled with college students indulging in these activities. The most exciting times are during football season due to the massive amount of fans who come out to support Georgia's football team. Make sure you stay till the end of the game because if its a win, celebrating downtown is a must!
