Advice

  • The hands-on experience of an internship greatly increases your employability after college. If you can afford to take an unpaid internship, do it. If you are a journalism student, getting multiple internships is part of the career track. Having an internship leads to getting another, so don’t be discouraged if you get turned down at first. There are lots of places in Athens to find an internship and even more high-profile ones in Atlanta. The best place to look for internships is at the UGA Career Center. At the Career Center, you can set up a one-on-one appointment with your major career specialist to get advice. They also give resume and cover letter critiques. You should also set up a DAWGlink account, which is UGA’s online resource on companies looking for UGA student hires.
