Birth Control Available? Yes
At the University Health Center, birth control prices vary depending on the type and quantity of birth control purchased. For some prescriptions, purchasing a three-month supply is cheaper than purchasing for one month. Also, costs from the pharmacy do not include a physical exam that may be required for the prescription.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most students at UGA are very good-looking and friendly. There are a lot of tan, toned bodies walking around campus and downtown. Students have been classified as easygoing and down-to-earth, making it at least fairly easy to talk to people on and around campus. Going downtown is always a fashion show, since everyone usually looks their best when out on the town. Working out and sunbathing are very popular pastimes, so I guess it’s only natural that the general population looks great. Because so many people are from Atlanta, the student body generally reflects the popular styles and trends.

There is definitely a classic frat boy look at UGA that involves the shorter, non-baggy shorts, Rainbow flip-flops, and collared, brightly-colored golf shirts. This, coupled with mop-top hair—that has not been cut since they left home—is pretty standard for many guys. T-shirts and shorts are pretty standard for most of the year, because it’s so hot in Athens. Once it gets cold, though, everyone will have black pants and peacoats on with some kind of boots to match—because students need to stay trendy during all seasons.

Girl's Style Verse Guys

Girls dress up for every occasion possible, especially if it is to go out downtown, or a house party. During the hours of classes one can usually tell from how one is dressed what type of major one has. Stylish girls who have the luxury to wear heels of any kind are no science, math, or any other hard studious subject majors. Those in a large t-shirt with jeans or tights or workout shorts are science, math, etc. majors. Art students are always unique in their outfits or grunge. The guys pretty much wear jeans and a t-shirt every day except when they go out then its maybe dress slacks and a polo shirt/sweater combo. The distress of their fabrics tell their perspective majors, more distressed harder major etc.

Fun Greek Community

Many individuals are in a sorority or fraternity at UGA. Personally involved in Greek life, I find it to be a great way to get to know people you would not have met before. I have met many wonderful people and getting involved in the greek community was a great decision.

What kinds of relationships have you had since coming to school?

How would you rate the social scene on campus?

Facts

Social Scene

There are unlimited opportunities to meet people at UGA: on the bus, at the Student Learning Center, in any class, during group projects, in Greek organizations, in clubs, at the library, at sporting events, at coffee shops, and of course, downtown.

Hookups or Relationships?

Many people are in stable relationships, but there is a huge pool of singles out there. Hookups occur rampantly at the bar scene downtown and at football games. Because alcohol is so popular, the walk of shame is pretty common for many students. Almost everyone is looking for romance in some capacity.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

The best places to meet people are downtown Athens and at fraternity parties. Any bar or frat party is bound to be packed with students looking for a good time. People are drunk, well dressed, and are looking to hook up. Many students get dressed up to go out, so there are a lot of beautiful people in Athens. The coed dorms are also great places to meet members of the opposite sex. Usually, the male floors will have some kind of party going on, and watching late-night movies on the futon is very common. With a little maneuvering, the dining halls and libraries can serve as a dating medium, too. Proper seating arrangements are key, but this is not a tough obstacle to overcome.

Dress Code

During the week, especially in the summer, students tend to dress as comfortably and minimally as possible. Some even choose to wear pajamas.

There generally seem to be two schools of dress at UGA. The "Greek" look is very Southern preppy, with many simply wearing various colored t-shirts with Greek letters and themed events on them. The "hipster" look carries a mixture of Bohemian style, American Apparel, vintage t-shirts, ironic haircuts and facial hair, and general looks of indifference.

To go out, most dress up. Downtown, many girls wear designer clothing with high heels. Skimpy little skirts and dresses are always popular. Guys dress up, too, but generally in a "fratty" way with expensive outdoor gear and outerwear, polos, and khakis.

On game day, everyone wears red and black. Men typically wear a red or black polo or collared shirts with gameday pants of some sort. Almost all girls wear sundresses in the school colors. Sunglasses are a must for the glaring sun at Sanford Stadium.
