Campus Police

The Campus Police at the University of Georgia take their job very seriously. The UGA Police are always around in case of emergency, and they are even there to answer any question students may have from time to time. My favorite aspect of the Campus Police is the fact that they have late night taxi services that are willing to pick you up from anywhere on campus and give a free escort back to your dorm or house.

Fun Greek Community

Many individuals are in a sorority or fraternity at UGA. Personally involved in Greek life, I find it to be a great way to get to know people you would not have met before. I have met many wonderful people and getting involved in the greek community was a great decision.

The Full College Experience

The University of Georgia covers all bases in providing the full and complete college experience. On-campus living is a requirement freshman year, and rather than complaining, most students will agree that this is one of the most fun times at school. The 4 dining halls all boast an impressive array of options, as well a convenient as-much-as-you-want setup. The athletics are rivaled by none, and there is no other school with a tradition as loved as teeing it up "between the hedges". With all of these impressive factors, as well as the superb nightlife, it becomes easy to forget how outstanding the academics are. The honors college is one of the top programs in the southeast and the business college is widely respected.

Athens: Best City in America

Not only is UGA one of the best Universities in America, it's located right next to the best place for college students in the USA: downtown Athens. There's always something going on downtown, no matter what day. Most restaurants are open til 2 a.m., if not 4 a.m., and there's always something good to eat, no matter your price range. We have the most bars per square mile in America: 97 in just one square mile, plus tons of other stuff for those who don't imbibe to do.

Best of...

Best of Dining. Excellent meal plans and dining hall options. Great quality food.

Best of Major Options. Over 150 major options to choose from. If you really can't decide, you can even create your own major.

Best of North Campus. It's quiet, quaint, and beautiful. And there's just enough grass to lay out and read.

Best of Getting involved. Whether you go Greek or not, there's plenty of organizations to get involved in. If you somehow manage to not find anything you like, you can found your own organization!

Best of Campus-wide games. Zombies v. Humans. Enough said.

UGA Dining Halls

I live off campus now, and I'm not on the meal plan, but I can't describe to you how much I miss it. UGA dining halls are fabulous, with multiples laid out across campus, there's always one close, and if you get a craving late night, Snelling Dining hall is open 24 hours M-Thurs. The dining hall at ECV is the BEST, freshest and greatest options. All dining halls have stations with cook to order lines, from smoothies to omelets to made to order pizzas

Un F#@*ING Believeable

If you ever go to downtown Athens, you immediately fall in love and want to marry it. You never want to leave, and you feel like you are cheating on your girlfriend because there is no other way you could possibly feel so amazing downtown. Friday and saturday are obviously the best, but Tuesdays and Thursdays can get absolutely crazy, and nothin beats a very inexpensive night on Monday or Wednesday. The only reason im typing this is im home and I miss Athens so much.

Unreal

Downtown athens georgia is unlike anything you have ever seen. I would find it hard pressed to find anywhere in the country with such a high concentration of bars in such a small area. On gameday weekends the entire downtown is filled to the extreme, and everyone knows, "Aint nothin finer in the land, than a drunk obnoxious georgia fan!"

Insane

UGA Football gameday is one of the craziest things you will ever experience. Following the UGA/USC game in 2009 there were 80 tons of trash leftover from the tailgate, UGA football rules the school

Place for Anyone!

The University of Georgia provides multiple options for students to live in while attending school, but not living on campus. They have apartments available downtown and even student community houses for example Aspen Heights. We constantly receive emails on information through our UGA email account, and they are often useful. They are affordable and there are free transits, for anyone with a UGA ID, and can be escorted all over Athens.

Athens, I Love You

Athens is definitely a college town! With the party scene and very hipster habitat in Downtown, the thousands of college students attend University of Georgia, and Bulldog-themed attractions all around Athens, you know from the second you walk in the city limits that you are at the best place on Earth.

Variety of People

You will find different types of guys and girls. There are good looking people. Quite a few people have their own style and dress different. Many people dress sporty

Guys and Girls at UGA

I would say that the people that go to UGA are very preppy in the way that they dress. They mostly wear leggings, ugg boots, big tshirts, northface jackets, and other high end clothing.

Great

Sports are a big deal. We have a great footbal team. Everyone comes to have a good time.

UGA Facilities Rock

There are always so many things going on in the Tate Student Center that most times you become frustrated that you can't skip class and see them all! Georgia is a gorgeous campus, all of the buildings are brick and there are so many trees. The Student Learning Center is a great place to study and is open 24/7 and has it's own coffee bar, which is perfect for those late night study sessions. I love the Ramsey Center, which is the gym for students at UGA. It's humongous and has so many different things for you to do, rock-climbing, raquetball, basketball, weight room, cardio machines, a track, and the pool.

Athens, GA

University of Georgia is more than just a school, it becomes a home. Athens is such a small, rural town that really depends on the school to survive, and there's no shortage of southern hospitality around here. There's so much to do during the day, with rivers and creeks to swim in and cute boutiques to shop at, to Downtown Athens for the nightlife. Atlanta's about an hour drive away, so the big city feel is never too far if you're feeling like you need some more excitement. And let's not forget Saturday in Athens, where we tee it up between the hedges at Sanford Statium. UGA is a school filled with tradition and achievement.

Dawgs and Dawgettes

The main thing I notice about the students at UGA is that that are very preppy and into the greek scene. Its hard to miss guys and girls sporting their Sorority or Fraternity letters on some type of apparel. I think the trends led from those type of people show up everywhere on campus as well. Ill notice certain things guys or girls wear and its so funny because everybody dresses the same. During the summer, girls wore tshirts, the new colorful nike tennis shoes, and nike running shorts. Guys wore the same nike shoes with high black socks, khaki shorts, and a plaid button down all the time. And now girls are wearing big tshirts/sweatshirts with scarves, black leggings, an cowboy boots. Its like a uniform! But other than the greek kids, its just usually the typical casual young adult clothing. Nothing too trendy or fancy. Accept there are a good bot of super trendy hipsters too.

I don't know. I don't do drugs and I don't even know where to get any.

Academics at UGA

I have attended UGA for 4 years now, with one semester at another smaller college for transfer credits. The smaller college was less technologically advanced with their administration but I much preferred the attention given to each student to how I am one in a class of 300 at UGA. I have had some really great professors, but I have also had some real arrogant jerk professors, with more of the latter. The curriculum is above average material, relying on the professors discretion how well they teach the material (which I have found lackluster.) The registration process is relatively easy but I wish the advisors would be more available for advising rather than telling you which classes to take and sending you on your way. In a huge lecture class with no attendance or personal connection to others in the class, there is no incentive to pay attention or even attend.

Easy Peasy

If you want it, you can have it. However, if you don't want to participate, you don't have to but unless you are oblivious- you will be able to see it going on.

Athens Is a Name Associated With 'Partying'

If you are bored in Athens at night, then you are locked in a closet. Athens offers so many things to do including for people under 21. There are shows every weekend downtown at several locations such as the Classic Center or New Earth or the Georgia Theatre. There are 72 bars/clubs some 18 and older and some 21 and older. Fraternities also have bands or parties, but usually only girls are welcome unless the guy is in the fraternity. There are restaurants that are open late night and some are very cheap and very delicious. Some free transportation is available on weekends such as apartment buses, the school bus, and a club called 'Designated Dawgs.' Taxis are always roaming the streets and very convenient.

The Dawg Bowl: UGA's Natorious Party Scene

UGA is known for being a party school and, being a student here, I would uphold that statement. Academics at UGA are extremely rigorous and important. However, Thusday- Saturday nights are considered free game. Drinking (and some mild drugs) can be found anywhere(and on some nights, everywhere. Be careful on who your hanging out with after hours.

Diversity in the Dawg House

UGA is a very diverse campus in many and most aspects. Ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation,religion, whatever. Everyone has a group or club they can feel comfortable being involved with. UGA's acceptance rates are higher for those in more diverse situations.

Really Easy to Get.

As long as you don't use them in the dorms, you're fine. Alcohol and weed are everywhere and extremely accessible. But if you don't do those things, there isn't a lot of pressure. If you want drugs and alcohol, you're in luck. If not, you'll have fun, too, and no one'll judge you.
