College Prowler Take
The University of Iowa has many attractive members of both sexes. Being a major university and having a large student body gives undergraduates plenty of people to meet and learn about. Guys around campus come off as a little defensive—it seems like they are trying to be better than any other guy they know. The girls around campus can be shy, but once you start talking to them, they open up. It seems like a strong majority of the campus is looking for a special person, either for a night or for a long-term relationship. With so many people at UI, it is in your best interest to talk to many different people. If you are looking to meet someone, the best option is the bar scene—most people head there to meet others, and alcohol always helps loosen things up. When in doubt, it’s best to break the ice—chances are, the other person is going to be just as open to conversation as you are.

Girls around campus can be hit-or-miss. Some are really cool to hang out with, but others either are not cool enough or think they are too cool. The guys seem cool, but I prefer to talk to the girls rather than the gents. |

The guys are good here at Iowa. There are lots of hot guys. Hell, I found my boyfriend here, and I love him to death. There are tons of guys and tons of girls. There are enough people to find your own niche at the school. The campus is liberal, so there are all different types of people. |

The guys I’ve met are generally really nice. There are going to be players and jerks no matter where you go to school, but you can definitely tell the good from the bad right away, and I haven’t had any bad experiences at Iowa. |

Social Scene
Everyone at Iowa is really outgoing, so it’s very easy to make friends. Students usually meet their good friends on their dorm floor, followed by fellow students from your hometown and people in class—you get to know a lot of different types of people.
Hookups or Relationships?
There are so many people at the UI that the dating scene is what you make of it. If you are looking for a long term relationship, then you can find it. Some people prefer going to the bar and looking for a short-lived fling.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
The best place to meet people is, by far, the bars around town. Many people go to the bar for this reason alone. You will also meet a lot of people waiting in line for the bathroom at bars. Another excellent place to meet people is in your classes—at least in this situation, you know that the two of you will have something in common.
Dress Code
Iowa’s dress code is very contradictory. For class, a lot of students dress extremely casual—think baggy sweats and Uggs—while others wear jeans and T-shirts. At the bars, though, it’s all about high heels and button-down shirts, even at the more casual bars.
