Social Scene
Everyone at Iowa is really outgoing, so it's very easy to make friends. Students usually meet their good friends on their dorm floor, followed by fellow students from your hometown and people in class-you get to know a lot of different types of people.
Hookups or Relationships?
There are so many people at the UI that the dating scene is what you make of it. If you are looking for a long term relationship, then you can find it. Some people prefer going to the bar and looking for a short-lived fling.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
The best place to meet people is, by far, the bars around town. Many people go to the bar for this reason alone. You will also meet a lot of people waiting in line for the bathroom at bars. Another excellent place to meet people is in your classes-at least in this situation, you know that the two of you will have something in common.
Dress Code
Iowa's dress code is very contradictory. For class, a lot of students dress extremely casual-think baggy sweats and Uggs-while others wear jeans and T-shirts. At the bars, though, it's all about high heels and button-down shirts, even at the more casual bars.
