Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Students say that drugs are not a problem and are well policed around campus. Marijuana is the dominant illegal drug used by students, but alcohol is much more popular. Like every other campus, if you are looking for drugs, you will be able to find them. If you are looking to avoid anything having to do with drugs, you’ll probably be able to accomplish that, too. At KU, students get to decide their own level of involvement in the drug scene. There is no peer pressure to do them, like in high school.

KU does not have a large drug scene like at some of the other universities across the nation, but alcohol is prevalent. Most students choose to drink, and most parties revolve around alcohol. Non-alcoholic events are offered throughout campus for students who do not choose to participate in the drinking scene. And students can attend local bars without feeling the pressure to get drunk. Furthermore, the University tries to educate students on making the right decisions and avoiding drug abuse.

Party!!!

KU's rated as one of the top party schools in the country and it's easy enough to see why. There's a lot of free flowing alcohol on campus even though that there's a high police presence. It doesn't seem like enough to stem the flow of house parties, drinking in dorms or frat/sorority parties.

You Choose

If you want to find drugs and alcohol, you can. Almost every party will have alcohol, but it's not a big deal if you choose not to drink. Alcohol on campus is strictly monitored though, so best to drink off campus. Drug scene isn't that big, usually just smoking. Drinking is more popular.

Alcohol

on weekends you normally don't see the students drinking alcohol but you know at the end of the night they had some alcohol at one point of time. Possibly they get the alcohol from at parties or the have it hidden in their dorms. I have seen some of my peers with fake IDs so that could be a way of getting alcohol and how visible it is.
