Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Students rarely complain about the University's facilities. There is a variety of different places to eat, hang out, work out, and buy whatever you need. From getting a haircut to bowling to buying a new cell phone or the latest KU gear, the Kansas Union is one of the most popular places to be on campus. It’s at the edge of campus, so it can be a far walk from some buildings, but students generally agree it has a lot to offer.

The most popular facility on campus is the Student Recreation Fitness Center. It is considered one of the best recreation facilities in the nation and recently underwent even more renovations. The Rec has a rock-climbing wall, racquetball courts, basketball courts, an indoor track, and cardio and weight-lifting areas, just to name a few. It opens early and closes late to give students the chance to work out whenever is convenient for them. Robinson Gymnasium is older and less popular than the Rec, but it does have a pool that is available to all students after the swim team is done with practice.

No Place I'd Rather Be

Every building on the KU campus was designed for its students. The recreational center is close to the campus and open from before dawn to midnight; the libraries are often open all day and night; and the Underground (where we get food in a rush) has many different choices including sushi, Asian, pizza, and salads. Plus it seems as if there is a different function every day and it allows students to make friends, relax, and have fun.

KU

KU's academic buildings are nice. Both libraries are accessible and open til the late hours of the evening. Our Student Union has a bowling alley and numerous other things! Our fitness center is nice, although far away.

Facilities on Campus

Our rec center is very nice. There is a huge rock climbing wall and the classes are pretty cheap. The libraries have quite a few computers but they can be slow sometimes.

Facts

Favorite Things To Do

The Student Union Activities group provides a lot of entertainment on campus. Sometimes they have dollar movie night at the Union or re-enactments of the "Price is Right" with a lot of prizes to win. Seeing plays and performances at the Leid Center is also popular with students. Well-known comedians and bands frequent the Leid Center on West Campus.

When the weather is nice, there are always students outside. Many gather on Wescoe Beach, the area in front of Wescoe Hall. It’s not an actual beach but still remains a gathering place for many students. There are plenty of grassy areas between and behind campus buildings, where students read books, nap, or even line-slack.

Did You Know?

The Student Recreation Fitness Center has a 42-foot rock climbing wall.
