With such a big student population, it’s hard not to find good-looking guys and girls. Many students take care of themselves and like to hit the gym, and it shows. With more than 30,000 students and a mostly equal ration of girls to guys, there’s something out there for everyone.

You’ll meet guys and girls every day in class and on campus. Joining clubs and organizations is not only a good way to meet good-looking people, but they are more likely to have similar interests as you. But, without a doubt, hanging out in Lawrence is the best way to meet people. Students like to go out here, and most are always looking for new people to meet.

The kids here love to party. Since I love to study, it drives me insane! Every night I can hear kids driving by or yelling in the dorm hallways.

Most students on campus dress very casual. The typical student wears jeans and a t-shirt. I am always seeing very attractive guys on campus. From my experience most of the guys on campus aren't looking for a relationship just somebody to mess around with.

Social Scene

Lawrence at the University have strong Greek life, student organizations, and the music and bar scenes, so it’s easy for students to find other people interested in similar things. From hippies to preppies, students can find whoever they are attracted to at a place like KU. But it’s all up to students to get out there and meet people. Put yourself out there and get involved early—making new friends takes some effort.

Hookups or Relationships?

There are opportunities for hookups or serious relationships at KU, and students vary in their level of commitment. The most common hookups in Lawrence probably happen when there is alcohol involved, so students sometimes talk about them regretfully. Some students come to college to meet their future husband or wife, while others just want to be free and have fun while they’re young. It all depends on what you’re looking for.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

The best places to meet members of the opposite sex vary. In the dorms, many students are put in an easy situation to meet one another. The proximity of girls and guys in the dorms creates a situation for flings and hookups, but can, at times, come at a high cost and create problems on the floor. House parties are also a place to meet guys and girls, but each party is different with the possibility of a poor girl-to-guy ratio for either sex. For a sure bet, the bars offer the best opportunity for students to meet other wild and crazy students.

Dress Code

You can tell you’re on a college campus by the way students dress. Students mostly wear comfortable clothes, maybe sweatpants or jeans and a T-shirt, and often sport Jayhawk gear in one way or another. There are students who like to dress up more for classes, but casual wear is more prominent.
