There are some big traditions on campus, Like heading to Mellow Mushroom or Talley hoe before the game, but the fun is usually after!

in the warmer month of basketball season, alumni and students do tailgate. but it usually is too cold when it hits the winter months. I don't know if you are familiar but we do have two traditions that students love to go to pep them up for the basketball season: the Blue and White game/Big Blue Madness (the first practice that all students and alumni are allowed to watch; some alumni basketball stars come back like Wall and Cousins) and the camp out for tickets for Big Blue Madness. Heres a video, but you can see for yourself looking up Big Blue Madness: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=2012+big+blue+madness+video&view=detail&mid=7E02633D9B40F3A4F1277E02633D9B40F3A4F127&first=0&FORM=NVPFVR

The truly wonderful thing about Kentucky athletics is having the opportunity to watch basketball and actually play an intramural sport, also. Kentucky basketball is infectious and will bring you to your feet and give you some great memories of your college years, even if you don't like the sport all that much. The football team doesn't exactly have a winning record, but the fans are die hard loyal and don't ever seem to care about what the actual score ends up as. Tailgating at football games is a must. Basketball may be our strong point, but our football tailgates are as good as they get and reason enough to get up and head to the football stadium. After all, school spirit isn't based on winning or losing!

Greek sports and intramurals are a great way to get involved and make some friends while staying in shape. Leagues are easy to form and join, and most schools or organizations have some sort of opportunity for sport. Be ready to wear blue constantly and have your life be dictated by Big Blue Fever. Even if you're not into sports, when you enter Wildcat Country, be prepared to be infused with school spirit!
