Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The truly wonderful thing about Kentucky athletics is having the opportunity to watch basketball and actually play an intramural sport, also. Kentucky basketball is infectious and will bring you to your feet and give you some great memories of your college years, even if you don’t like the sport all that much. The football team doesn’t exactly have a winning record, but the fans are die hard loyal and don’t ever seem to care about what the actual score ends up as. Tailgating at football games is a must. Basketball may be our strong point, but our football tailgates are as good as they get and reason enough to get up and head to the football stadium. After all, school spirit isn’t based on winning or losing!

Greek sports and intramurals are a great way to get involved and make some friends while staying in shape. Leagues are easy to form and join, and most schools or organizations have some sort of opportunity for sport. Be ready to wear blue constantly and have your life be dictated by Big Blue Fever. Even if you’re not into sports, when you enter Wildcat Country, be prepared to be infused with school spirit!

University of Kentucky Athletics

The football team isn't that great however the atmosphere leading up to the games at tailgates and on campus is a fun one. When basketball season rolls around, campus is in a constant buzz, excitement, support of the team. Majority of the rest of the sports teams are exceptional as well and have some type of national relevance.

Big Blue Nation

There's not one sports fan out there that doesn't know about the University of Kentucky. Not only do we have the #1 ranked basketball team, but the fans for UK sports top all others. While basketball is a major focus, all the other sports get their highlight as well. There are numerous posters all over campus advertising events from swimming to gymnastics to soccer matches.

Getting Tickets

Being a student makes it easy to get basketball tickets, but only if you’re willing to spend hours in line for them. Football tickets should be bought early and it’s worth it to have season tickets to all the home games.
