Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Going hungry will never be an option at UK. There is a wide variety of your typical national chain restaurants in Lexington, many of which are just a short drive from campus. But by far the most impressive choices are the original-to-Lexington places that are close to campus, like Joe Bologna’s and Pazzo’s. Tolly-Ho is a must-do for anyone new to campus. Be sure and tell them you’ve never been there before, and they’ll give you a special surprise.

The area around north campus features several ethnic restaurants such as Indian, Thai, and Middle Eastern cuisine. You’ll run out of money long before you’ve run out of places to eat. Don’t forget to get ice cream and go for a walk around campus to work off those extra unwanted calories.

Costly

If you don't have a meal plan then meals can get a little expensive. The meals are all very good but i don't know if they are worth the money.

TONS OF LOCAL FAVORITES

I've lived in a lot of larger cities, so while the variety of dining options in Lexington is not as high as in other larger metropolitan cities, it is still an excellent place to try local and unique places. Fun fact: Lexington has more new and existing restaurants per capita than any other city, due to the economic diversity of the population and large student demographic.

PLACES TO DEFINITELY CHECK OUT:

1. PAZZO'S: Best place for amazing pizza, student discounts, drink (beer) discounts. It's open late, right near campus, and always packed with students, so it's a great place to socialize and get great food.

2. CANE'S: Chicken. That's it. Once you've tried the Cane's sauce you'll know why it's an obsession.

3. TOLLY HO: Every student that has ever attended UK has been to Tolly Ho at least once. Hole-in-the-wall diner that's been around FOREVER, is open super late (everyone goes there after going out to the bars) and has the best food for late night/super early.

4. JALAPENOS: Great Mexican food, awesome service

There are tons more, but these are some near-campus highlights.
