Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

You would not believe how much people enjoy complaining about parking at Kentucky! It gets more gripes than any other area of college life, and rightly so. The parking authority is notorious for overselling parking passes. If you are lucky enough to find a space, you will pay over $100 per year to park somewhere miles away from anything.

Plan on packing a sleeping bag if you have a pass to park at the football stadium; chances are you’ll end up getting tired and spending the night. The only redeeming factor is the shabby bus system that takes students around campus, but never really drops them off anywhere that helps much.

Parking

Parking is absolutely awful. Most freshman have to park in the K lot, which is the parking lot near the football stadium and it always a hassle having to move your car during football season and how far away from the rest of campus it is. Usually you can not get parking closer on campus until you are a junior and meter maids are constantly handing out tickets. The parking passes are overpriced for the lack of convenience an limited purpose they serve.

Bad Parking

This is one of the worst issues for many students at the University of Kentucky. Students are often scrambling to find places to park because there is not enough offered around campus. It can take forever to find a spot and that is why the use of shuttles is becoming more apparent as a mode of transportation.

Frequent Towing

Unless your car boasts a specific UK Parking Permit for the specific lot where you are parking, prepare to be towed. UK Parking is serious about who parks where. The best shot of not getting towed is parking off of campus and walking.
