A-
Always Something to Do
As cliche as that title is, it's true. Many of UK's students come from small Kentucky towns, and are pleasantly surprised to see how active Lexington becomes on the weekends. There is a never-ending supply of restaurants and bars to visit, with cuisine brought in from all over the world.
Within a 15 minute walk of campus is all of downtown Lexington, with boutiques, the historic Kentucky Theatre, and the Lexington Center, home of Rupp Arena and the UK Men's Basketball Team. Go Cats!
Two months a year, April and October, the thoroughbred horse racing track, Keeneland, is open for business. Keeneland also holds two "College Days" (one in April, one in October), and it's highly recommended to check out the ponies before graduation. Near this famous racetrack is the Kentucky Horse Park, home of the American Saddlebred Museum and acres of beautiful bluegrass. The Kentucky Horse Park was also home to the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games, which brought horses and athletes from all over the world to Lexington.
