about a third of UMF is really into partying, but this usually takes place at either the river or someones house. I've been to a lot of good parties with relaxed vibes and cool people, but the majority of the parties are ticking time bombs - there's too many people in a trashed house and the cops are hovering, waiting to bust intoxicated freshmen. I noticed that things got significantly worse as I got older - the parties became overwhelmingly crowded, hostile, and full of strangers and townies. This in turn made the hosts increasingly stressed out and hostile, and it just wasn't fun anymore.

The school generally does it's best to award hard working students for their effort, and the school is pretty affordable for most.

Our new facilities are fantastic - the education building, the cafeteria, the computer center, and the arts buildings are all state-of-the-art. However, the old buildings that house the sciences have yet to be updated and the geology lab is old, dusty, and has slow computers. Most of the school is in it's original state from the 1800's.

Guys & Girls:
Most people at this school are pretty homely and shut in. There are definitely a good amount of cool, outgoing people, but they are all in athletics and sciences. Do not attend this school if you want to have a riveting social life.

The computer center is open twenty four seven which is great.

There are different groups but very little and they stand out in the small town itself.

I got what I needed it just isn't smooth as far as the actual computer system goes.

I'm a freshman and I was able to find off campus housing very easily, and many of my friends have as well. There's a lot of apartments within walking distance of campus, and they are not super expensive either.

I love the program that I am in. The teachers travel to the students so they can meet a greater population of students.

Classes will be cancelled if the weather is to bad to commute in. They are great at letting students know ahead of time before you leave for class.

I am a student that attends classes at off-campus sites. The parking is always near the building and never an issue.

Courses vary greatly in rigor, and usefulness. It is necessary to use ratemyprofessor when scheduling.

The student base isn't very large and parking is very easy to find and is close. 20$ for a year long parking pass.

Many sports are featured and the students are very supportive, however the crowds usually aren't that large and the venues are small. It is much like playing for a high school team, however the athletes take it seriously.

At UMF the adviser you are matched up with is very helpful and will help you in most areas. The work prepares you for your career.

The dining on campus is often interesting to say the least. The dining hall is almost always open when you need it, but the food is not of the highest quality, and the options are always changing. For all the other times though there is the snack bar, which does have good food, but is frightfully expensive. The food though is reliable and unless it's the last week before the semester ends, has fairly good selection.

Farmington is very far out from any of the major cities or towns that would have public transportation. There is a sort of bus that makes it's way from Farmington to Auburn, but it seems very irregular. Often times though you can find someone going in your general direction that will be nice and let you catch a ride with them to a more major transportation hub.

I did not stay on campus, so I wouldn't know about in the dorms. My friends that I met at UMF were not into drugs nor talked about them.

You must be early in order to get a parking spot. These spots are limited.

Fall and spring in Farmington are gorgeous. The campus practically glows, and everyone is so full of life. Winter is rough. There are quite a few ski areas close-by, if that's what your looking for, and the snow covered campus is quite beautiful, but it is very, very cold for a few months a year.

Farmington is in a pretty isolated location, but the school is totally aware of it and does a lot to make up for it. Apart from the campus activities, there is an impressive offering of off-campus excursions that are extraordinarily affordable. Recently, I went on a day-long trip to Boston to see a very popular broadway show for $25 total. That includes the 5 hour custom coach ride and my ticket. The academic programs are also incredible, the professors alone are the most wonderful that I have ever encountered, or heard of, before.

Farmington has a pretty solid amount of apartments available each semester, and the majority of them are within walking distance to campus. They are also priced extremely reasonably.
College Junior 2013-06-11T18:39:02Z
I love our campus. It's very close-knit, with a ton of green space. There aren't words to describe how amazing it is to be on campus when spring comes. There are also a lot of awesome campus events and activities, they really do try to have something for everyone. It's basically just an incredible school to be a part of if you're looking for a college that feels more like home.

There are very few dining options in the Farmington area, however, it's always growing, and what is available is very good, with extremely comfortable atmosphere's. Recently a restaurant/bar called The Roost went in right off campus, and it's extremely popular with students.
College Senior 2013-06-07T15:03:28Z
The computer center is always crowded, but there seems to always be a space for someone else. The printers can be off and on quite frequently however, but the helpdesk workers are eager to help. Wi-Fi is always running and fast in the classrooms.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
