One of the most significant reasons for attending Maryland is its beautiful campus and awe-inspiring facilities. There’s no avoiding the bountiful cherry blossoms and flower arrangements on the grounds. Large trees around campus shade students from the strong sun during the hotter months. The buildings are not too shabby, either. Students rave about the Eppley Recreation Center (ERC), the Stamp Student Union, and the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.
The ERC is so large that it sometimes feels like an airport. The pools are heated and have speakers mounted deep below. Thankfully, the ERC offers healthy, fun, and challenging experiences for students at all levels of fitness. Students who live on North Campus are thrilled that the ERC is a part of their home—it’s only minutes from the residence halls. The Stamp Student Union has come a long way and provides students, especially commuters, with a place to hang out in between classes and after the school day is complete. At the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, students interested in performance art can breathe in creativity, beauty, and progress—without hearing a single note of music. As for the “beauty” of some of the residence halls, that’s another story.
