For fraternities, rush is not very competitive. I have not met a guy that has rushed and not gotten a bid. Everyone finds the fraternity they belong in.

I agree with ^him. Some guys have their sights set on one specific and may not receive a bid from that one, but guys find the right fit for them

It's easy to find the right Fraternity for you, Greek life is growing like crazy here. Number of chapters and chapter size just keeps getting bigger. For the next few years getting a bid won't be hard.

There is a perception by many students on Maryland’s campus that the Greek community is overbearing, but in reality, not a huge percentage of students actually “go Greek.” The perceived dominance of fraternities and sororities on campus may simply be based on effective and assertive marketing techniques, which tend to include promotions via word of mouth, relationship-building, and basic Greek pride. Furthermore, a majority of the town bar patrons may in fact be Greek students simply because many of them like to socialize there, and College Park only has a few bars. More than ever, Greek students could be invading the bars more frequently because of the University's restrictions on parties on Fraternity Row and beyond.

Having the opportunity to experience “rush” on campus is special to some Terps, as it provides an easy way to quickly get involved and immersed in Maryland life. Greek life offers a way to experience diversity, friendship, leadership, scholarship, and service without having to reinvent the wheel. Buckle up, though—going Greek requires a commitment, and you can’t become president of a fraternity overnight.
