Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The University of Maryland, College Park is paradise compared to some schools across America. Most students who join the campus community stay awhile, and some don’t want to leave, even after being there four or even five years. It’s universities like this that have contributed to the popular expression of college being "four of the best years of your life." From students' first year on campus to their final days leading up to graduation, students’ academic, personal, physical, professional, and social lives come together to prepare them for the real world. Many alumni look back and agree that, even if they could, they wouldn’t change a thing about their overall experience at UMCP.

There are also students who can’t wait to get out by the time graduation rolls around. But mark these words: there often comes a day when those new alumni miss the days of basking in the sun on McKeldin Mall, recalling the memories of sharing so many special moments with their friends for life. The best news of all is that, after graduation, students really never have to leave Maryland because they will always be a “Terp for Life!”

culture? what culture?

There is no diversity in culture at UMD. Everyone wants to get f***ed up and act like idiots. Interesting things rarely happen on campus, and when they do, the students don't care and don't participate. No one aspires to be different. Everyone is a conformist here; individualism doesn't exist. If you're looking to keep your life stagnant and pointless, then you're in the right place.

Scary

Campus is really scary at night you cannot walk by yourself. Someone was even robbed on the mall at 7 PM this year. Also the night ride, which is supposed to pick you up whenever you need it at night, is super flakey and make up dumb excuses. All in all, have a buddy.

Ok

Nothing is really too challenging and people take their classes pretty seriously most of the time. There is a vast array of different types of classes you can take so that's pretty sweet.
