College Prowler Take
One of the most significant reasons for attending Maryland is its beautiful campus and awe-inspiring facilities. There’s no avoiding the bountiful cherry blossoms and flower arrangements on the grounds, including an occasional rosebush. Oh, and the smell of the air can be delightful, especially to students from New Jersey. Rolling fields of large trees shade students from the strong sun during the hotter months. The buildings aren’t too shabby, either. Students rave about the Campus Recreation Center (CRC), the Stamp Student Union, and the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. The CRC is so large that it sometimes feels like an airport. The pools are heated and have speakers mounted deep below. Thankfully, the CRC offers healthy, fun, and challenging experiences for students at all levels of fitness. Students who live on North Campus are thrilled that the CRC is a part of their home—it’s only minutes from the residence halls. The Stamp Student Union has come a long way and provides students, especially commuters, a place to hang out between classes and after the school day is complete. At the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, students interested in performance art can breathe in creativity, beauty, and progress—even without hearing a single note of music. As for the “beauty” of some of the residence halls, that’s another story.

Great Gym and Lots of Clubs, but Dining Halls Are HORRIBLE
D+
The gym here is great and not too crowded. It is open at odd hours as well, and even has the outdoor rec center. Additionally, any activities not directly available through the University are accessible cheaply through clubs, which get lots of SGA funding.
Unfortunately, you will inevitably be in the dining facilities far more often than the gym, and these facilities are horrible. They are dirty, crowded, have horrible food, and ALL have terribly, horribly, atrociously inconvenient schedules. Furthermore you are charged a $1000/year in "facilities fees" for the dining halls while already paying well over dine-in restaraunt prices for fast food, and without any service. This makes overall life there unpleasant, regardless of the gym.

It’s amazing. Everything is amazing. The gym, the pool, and the PAC are so nice. They remodeled the entire student union. |

The libraries are amazing. I know you’re wondering who would say that, but I haven’t been able to find a library as big or with as much information as that. You can get dazed and confused figuring out where to get the item you just spent an hour looking up on the computer. |

The athletic facilities are fantastic. Computers are great. The student union is fine; however, there’s so much around town that the student union gets by without having to offer too much. Commuters will find that it contains everything they might need any day. |
FactsWhat To Do on Campus
The ERC is always busy—everyone loves going to the gym, and the fact that it's open until midnight six days a week makes it even more appealing. Movies at the Hoff and performances from numerous comedy groups are always a big draw. The libraries are never empty either—people never seem to have a lack of things to do around UMCP!
Favorite Things To Do
See a movie at the Hoff, go to a comedy show, grab a coffee and chill in the Coffee Bar café, go to the ERC and work up a sweat, or go swimming and tanning in the outdoor pool at the ERC when it’s nice out
