College Prowler Take
College Park is a pretty satisfying, happy medium for students who love changing seasons. UMCP’s consistently moderate winters include the occasional snowstorm, so be prepared. Every year or so, a storm comes and shuts down campus for about a day, and students engage in snowball fights and sledding. The area’s autumn temperatures are beautiful and often comfortable, but come prepared with a few sweaters and be sure to buy at least one Maryland sweatshirt at the campus bookstore. Most rainfall comes during the spring, so umbrellas and slickers are a must. When it comes to the summer, if you don’t like humidity, get out of town as temperatures can be really hot in June and July. As for students who generally use the winter months to crawl into their Terrapin shells, the CRC offers a warm environment to prevent hibernation. For some students, swimming during the winter months can be exhilarating. As for the dining hall experience during the winter, nowhere else on campus will you find residents scurrying from their residence halls to an eatery without what many mothers would call “enough layers.” Scoffing at the cold, many students wear shorts during the cold months. While College Park winters are nothing like San Diego winters, they’re nothing like NYC winters, either.

Mixed Bag in Fall and Spring but Sucks in Winter.
C-
In the winter it is normally cold and rainy and there isn't much cover at all on campus. In the fall and spring it is either really nice or way too hot - and most of the dorms do not have AC.

Seasonal, but not too bad during the winter. But don’t bring winter clothes until after October—it’s a waste. Bring home summer clothes after September. |

The weather is really hot and humid between May and August, but nicer during the fall and early spring. Winters are mostly rainy and cloudy and in the 30s. |

Well, compared to NY or NJ, it gets warmer in the spring quicker and stays warmer in the fall, but it is cold in the winter, so bring what you need. The outdoor pool at the CRC is open even in September and for sure in the spring, so bring your suits. |
