Those of you who have now read this book and are going to attend UMass are lucky, because the things which took me a few years to improve upon and figure out, you now know. A lot of students are concerned with the recent budget cuts. Yet, UMass's financial situation will improve over time and may never even affect you. Judging from the comments students have made, coming to UMass has truly enriched their lives, academically and socially.
Despite the bad parking, unpredictable weather, and crummy campus dining, it's still hard to find someone who genuinely hates UMass. If you work hard and don't let yourself get too distracted by all the parties, you will be able to avoid some of the pitfalls plaguing students fresh out of high school who aren't used to such responsibility. Going to UMass and experiencing such a multifaceted institution will open doors for you. The size of UMass provides you with more resources and options, so do what I did, and have fun.
