Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Despite the bad parking and unpredictable weather here, it’s still hard to find someone who genuinely hates UMass. The University’s large size provides its students with more resources and options than smaller schools, so take advantage of this. If you work hard and don’t let yourself get too distracted by all the parties, you will be able to avoid some of the pitfalls that plague students who are fresh out of high school and aren’t used to such responsibility.

A lot of students are concerned with the recent budget cuts, but UMass’s financial situation will improve over time and may not even affect future incoming classes. Regardless, going to UMass and experiencing such a multifaceted institution will open doors for you. And, judging from the comments students have made about the University, coming to UMass has truly enriched their lives, academically and socially, and it can do the same for yours!

Amherst Diversity

UMass Amherst is a very diverse school. There are people from all around the world and it's not hard to find someone that was the same race, but what if you want to spend some time and make friends with people that are racially different than you in order to broaden your horizons? That isn't hard to do either. Our campus is extremely diverse and you can easily find many people from any part of the world.

Good Eating Anytime

There are four main dining halls strategically placed. In addition, there are a number of other eateries, most of which you can use your prepaid program food card with (or there is a dollar amount you can spend up to). There are also places around town where the dollar amount limit can be applied too. The food plans are very reasonable...buy the 'piggy' unlimited plan for only a few hundred dollars more. Parents eat free!

Within the dining commons, there are always specials going on, special guests {chefs} visit, many choices and variety, and the quality is very high.

..in short, they have an award winning program.
