So Much Farmland!
When you're on your way to UMass it seems like your out in the country. The surrounding towns of Sunderland and Deerfield consist of huge fields of local farms. Then suddenly you see skyscrapers and tons of buildings. Welcome to UMass. It's almost like its own city. There is so much to do around the college and so many community and cultural events. There's fresh farm food, a huge shopping district in Hadley, tons of delicious local restaurants (pizza, crepes, ice cream and more). It's hard to get bored here because not only do the surrounding towns have tons of things to do, but just on campus events are always occurring. We have a fine arts center where performances take place, and bands and musicians come. There are art galleries and museums just on campus too. There's a lounge for students where on most Friday nights a movie is played. There's also a craft center with art supplies for the creative kind and a bike coop where you can rent a bike for the day. Feeling more active? Then head over to the Recreation center. The campus has two older gyms with swimming pools and other activities, in addition to the newer recreation center. You can take yoga, kickboxing, cycling, and even wrestling classes. Or you can lift some weights on your own or get your cardio on with one of the countless machines available. There is always something to do when you're at UMass whether it's heading into town to get something fresh and delicious to eat, or getting some exercise in, there's so much.
