Greek life is a very interesting experience. I am personally not affiliated with greek life but I have many friends that do. The positive aspect of greek life is that it will expand your networking skills and give you great opportunities outside of the University. If you are out of state, I would probably recommend joining Greek Life.

There are a ton of off campus dining options for students. Between State Street, Main Street and South University you cant really go wrong.

The weather is very inconsistent, but those who live in Michigan are used to it. The classes are never cancelled and the buses are always running.. so we have class regardless. Nice days are the best in Ann Arbor

Great nightlife, even if you are under 21. There are lots of fun club and restaurants with bars that liven up at night both on campus and off.

The drug scene at Michigan is good. It really depends on who you hang out with. There is definitely a lot of drugs on campus and they are pretty easy to find if you want them.

The night life in Ann Arbor is pretty solid. Within greek life there are numbers of events on throughout the week as well as access to bars. If you are of age or have another means of getting allowed to bars then you are set.

The Comm Studies Department does a good job offering creative courses and unique seminars, although I would have loved to see more course tailored directly to Journalism and career-oriented advice. The professors are all, generally, great. The major is very flexible and makes i possible to create a minor or double major program.

Such a fun city with vibrant night and weekend life! Very much a young town integrated with the University.

I have had such a positive experience growing and learning through leadership positions at the University of Michigan.

Students are OBSESSED with varsity sports at Michigan, especially Football. Most students live for football saturdays- Ann Arbor turns into one giant party. Those of us in Greek Life don our most outrageous maize and blue gear and party the day away at different frats before going to the Big House to watch the game. The spirit students have at U of M is rare and unparalleled by any other school.

There is truly something for everyone here. There are so many student groups on campus, it's impossible not to find something you'll enjoy doing. And people are very active in their clubs, so they're a great way to meet people with the same interests as you.

Some of the buildings are old, but not to the point that they would detract from my school experience. Many buildings are actually quite beautiful- the new Ross School of Business is a piece of modern architectural art, and the Law Library was almost used to film Harry Potter.

The major dining halls are outstanding - new, clean, tons of options. But not all dorms have a dining wall so you could have a long walk to get to one.

Ann Arbor is the PERFECT environment for a college campus because it is has the attractions of a city, but a town feel. Tons of restaurants, shopping, coffee shops, businesses, etc. and everything is very close together. People are extremely friendly and everyone has Michigan pride.

I plan to have an internship this summer to get job experience.
I dont have any concern with getting one.
I have worked at a small manufacturing company as professional training so far.

SO COLD in the winter but I don't mind because I'm from the midwest. It just sucks trying to go out at night

Planning on going into business and the job safety is really good (like 90% of students get an offer in 3 months after graduating or have offers after the beginning of senior year).

Love the resstaff, but every dorm has it's pros and cons. As a freshman you have little control over where you live unless you lie (or tell the truth) about medical or religious exceptions.
College Sophomore 2012-11-13T20:30:47Z
The ethnic and religious backgrounds of students are incredibly diverse. I would say political is pretty diverse, but there seems to be a lot of people either left or right wing and very few are in the middle.

Didn't get a lot of financial aid. I highly suggest contacting the OFA to have guidance because they will have advice as to how to go about the process at UMich.

I come from an area that is predominantly white so coming here and meeting people from all of the world has been amazing. I have meet international students from all over the world along with students born in the United States but with fascinating ethnic backgrounds.
College Junior 2012-11-13T20:20:33Z
There are many bars in the area, but they often get very crowed. About 30% of the student population is in Greek Life, so frat parties play a big part in night-life.
College Junior 2012-11-13T20:18:47Z
The football games are unreal, the amount of school pride evident at the games is beyond amazing.

Very easy to find off-campus housing. Ranging from very nice apartments/homes to very cheap options. Parking is sometimes more difficult to find... I personally have to park my car one block away from my house, but it's not too much of a hassle.

The reason I choose UMich is because of its beautiful campus. Ann Arbor is a small town, yet has everything you could possibly need. This campus is big so I really enjoy just walking around, familiarizing myself with the area and admiring all the beautiful academic buildings.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
