I never drank underage, but I hear they cracked down on that pretty hard, and I never smoked weed, but that is pretty decriminalized and the police don't really care all that much about it. Smoking is 'looked down upon' on campus, but it isn't banned.

The workout facilities available to the students that are not student athletes are pretty good. I only ever visited one of the, IMSB, the oldest one, and it was pretty good. The others are newer and I hear they are awesome.

Guys & Girls:
Boys and Girls – We are all good looking here. Of course at an individual level we always say "all the hot boys/girls are on the other side of campus, why do they run from me?"

Diverse, Systemically Too Much? If you don't already know, U of M got into trouble several years ago when their desire for a diverse campus became a sort of reverse-racism where students applying of a specific minority race were given more points on their application than non-minorities. Nonetheless, the campus is incredibly diverse both ethnically, country of origin, and sexual orientation. It's a hippie town, I don't think anybody could feel unwelcome here (except Buckeyes). So I give it an A, but the bureaucrats of the school get a minus for thinking of applicants as groups instead of individuals.

Very Diverse, Often Expensive – There are a TON of restaurants in Ann Arbor, and they vary incredibly in ethnicity, price range, and quality. There honestly aren't too many chain restaurants downtown or near campus (you'll really only see them in the Union/League, and of course Starbucks). Down on Main Street there are a lot of really nice restaurants and they all seem very expensive; I've been to only a couple of them myself. State street and South/East University are more cost-friendly and close to campus.

Some Amazing, Others Okay – Like almost any university, there are constant renovations to the campus, especially at U-M because of the influx of money coming in. The newer buildings are absolutely astonishing and a pleasure to be at and the historical buildings as well. Maybe some of the undergraduate halls could use more renovations but overall it is great.

Lots of Places – Being one of the most diverse universities in the world, you can find almost any type of food in a close radius around campus.

You Are One of Many – In the cognitive neuroscience program and any in psychology you have to go out of your way to compete and connect with the faculty to be a distinguished student. You must do what ever you can to be different from the pack.

Scholarships - You won't get one unless you're poor – You won't get a scholarship unless you're REALLY poor and that was indicated by FAFSA. You won't get a merit scholarship unless you're very lucky or famously smart/accomplished. They know the school rocks at everything else, so they don't bother to pour money into scholarships (learned that from a financial adviser).

Its Okay. Ann Arbor is a hard place to find parking anywhere and off campus housing is super expensive but worth it. The school isn't much help so start looking for off campus housing as early as possible to get the best deals. and get a good land lord!

Im Picky – Im a very picky eater but i can never complain about the food at North Quad.

The night life is super fun and there are more options than just going to parties, the university provides many other themed nights and games at the UNION

U of M offers high speed wireless internet in any building on campus and also allows access to many macs and PCs

Many Choices – There are many choices for off campus dining in Ann Arbor. There is something for any type of menu that you can think of and the hours are pretty flexible for a college town. Many restaurants also offer delivery services to the dorms and off campus housing.

Troubling Getting What You Need – I've heard a lot of people (including me) complain about the financial aid here. It's really hard to get the help you need especially if the student has more than one household or stepparents to be considered. I'm still trying to get the financial aid I need for the fall.

I Mean Its Michigan – The sports are great and a huge part of campus life. Are teams play hard which makes the fans go crazy and enhances the atmosphere...just wish it was a little easier to figure out when a few overshadowed sporting are going on.

Each campus dinning hall has different options so the variety is nice but weekend hours aren't convinient for those who sleep in.

Inconsistant Punishments – I've heard of people ending up in the same situations (underage drinking, alcohol in dorm rooms, noise violations, etc.) and recieving completely different punishments. Some students getting MIPs and room relocations and other times where RAs just check the room more often.

There is always options for the nightlife. If you do not party, there is always Umix at the Union on most Friday nights. Free food, shirts, and items are available. There is usually Karaoke, also. For people that party, this is the place to be, especially around St. Patrick's Day. Frat parties are not as bad as they sound and are fairly easy to get into. House parties are free and easy to get into. A lot of people welcome people. Bars are very popular among the 21 and older group. There are normally packed. Busses on the weekends run until 2 or 3. There are also free cabs for U of M students. You just need to be on campus and ride to another on-campus spot.

When the snow falls, so do a lot of people's attitudes. Walking in the snow or on icy patches is not always fun to do when you are running late to class. It also does not help that the snow plowing and brushing does not begin until later in the day. For an early class, be ready to put boots on because the plows won't be out. Classes are never cancelled for snow. The fall is always beautiful in Ann Arbor. The Arb has so many opportunities to see beautiful scenery. Everyone seems to love that "football/tailgate" weather.

Special Study Options – The University of Michigan offers many study options which include student-based study groups. These meet once a week or so and go over topics in the classroom. Closer to exams, these study groups have reviews. Other special study options include the places to study. There are many places to study whether it be a loud, group project at the Undergraduate Library or a no-sound concentration level of study at the Law Library and Graduate Library. All of these provide opportunities to be able to succeed in their studies.

Big House Football – The Big House is the biggest football stadium in the country. Records of attendance have been achieved at this stadium every time a football game is played. The stadium is filled with blue and yellow while Hail to the Victors echoes across the field. Student involvement and fan support are prime. The athletic alumni are very supportive. No matter if our team wins or loses, the fans still love the Wolverines and will not diminish the pride in the school.

Top Psychology School – To be a psychology major at the University of Michigan is rewarding. Since the Psychology Program at U of M is the top in the country, I feel very privileged to be at this school. There are many options for research in this curriculum and many opportunities to be prepared for psychology careers and further education.

Plenty of Sports – Varsity sports at UMich are huge. Everyone's heard of the football team, of course, and the hockey team is pretty popular during the season too. I'm not sure how much attention the other sports teams get.

Present but Not Overwhelming – Greek life is definitely present on campus but it's not too overwhelming. Sure, you'll see plenty of students wearing fraternity/sorority gear. You'll see even more students without it, though. If you're into parties then greek life is useful but it's certainly not the be-all end-all of the UMich party scene.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
