Guys & Girls:
Pretty People – The majority of the peple at U-M are good looking. In addition, most of them look pretty fit and dress well. There are, of course, those people who look like they rollout of bed every morning and eat three jelly donoughts on the way to class, but you'll find them at every school unfourtunately.

There are a variety of public transportation modes available. I take the bus to main campus every morning. With early classes the buses can be fuller and you may have to wait. In the evening after work (4am), I call for a cab at no charge that picks me up and drops me off at the dorm.

Great Professors – Excellent professors and lots of research opportunities

Lots of Good Options – a variety of nice upscale places downtown, and cheaper place too. lots of locally owned businesses.

Good Bus System – Buses are a good option. Limited parking on campus.

Diversity and Opportunity – Ann Arbor is an amazing city. The University of Michigan is located within the city and is part of the vibrancy of city life. There are countless attractions, activities and cultural events available. Ann Arbor welcomes and partners with university students in all aspects of the community, offering students exceptional opportunities.

Always Has Been a Vibrant Night Life – There are clubs, bars, theaters, concert halls, tons of fraternities and sororities, other clubs, committees and usually free things going on around the campus. There is something for everyone.

Apply for Everything – There is a great deal of money to be found in this enormous institution. They are very efficient in the paperwork movement. There are little known bits of money here and there depending on what you want to get involved in on campus. Lots of investigation required.

On Campus Great, Typical Commuter Cost to Airport – Since the train has a station right in Ann Arbor, bus depot, and numerous taxi stands, the transportation outside of the free university bus system is excellent. It is a very mobile town.

Best Social Work Program in the US – University of Michigan was recently ranked the #1 school for a masters in Social Work in the United States. That being said, the curriculum, individual planning, field work, instruction and faculty are supreme. I love my program and can't wait to complete it. A lot of other prestigious schools have faculty that graduated from the University of Michigan and I will be proud to be an alumnus.

Very Diverse in All Ways – This campus is hugely diverse in many different areas. Because it is part of the greater Detroit metro area, I believe it has a lot to offer as far as varied ethnic, religious, sexuality, racial, socio-economic backgrounds go. It's progressive attitude towards these things may invite a more liberal attitude, but also invites diverse people to learn in a place that accepts all kinds. Like most higher-ed institutions, there still is a majority of white population. I want to say this hovers around the 60% rate, other minorities compromise the other 40% with emphasis on african-americans. It also has a wide variety of international students.

Buses Are Frequent and Reliable; Near Major US Airport – Lots of on-campus bus routes that run year round, seasonally and on holiday. In addition, ann-arbor city buses ('the ride") are also convenient and affordable and will take you around the city and the greater ann-arbor/detroit area. Speaking of, being that Detroit is about 40 minutes away, you will find ample airline options to just about anywhere in the U.S./world. "Zimride"is a campus-wide ride-share program for students at Umich. I would recommend this if you live in areas outside of ann-arbor. Parking on-campus rates vary depending on location and lot. They range from very affordable monthly fees to some mildly costly fees if you want super close parking, which is not necessary considering the spread of the campus and available campus-wide transport.

If You Want It, You Can Get It – I've never gone beyond smoking marijuana, but if I wanted anything else (cocaine and Adderall come most readily to mind) I am certain it would not be hard for me to buy it.

It's All What You Make of It – Ann Arbor is what I would describe as an ideal college town; it's a far cry from the city I grew up in, but there is plenty to do, especially in downtown. The campus and the city more or less blend together, and you can find peace and quite in addition to excitement. Check out South University Avenue for some decent restaurants ("No Thai" is a must) and everyone should go to at least one football game.

Ann Arbor is known to be rainy, however carry a raincoat and umbrella. It will be ok. Stinks if you are carrying artwork.

Michigan has hundreds of majors that cater to the uniqueness and versatility of its students. They have a recent major in Informatics.

Not Really Engaged Yet – I decided to not really get into the nightlife at Michigan, but from what I see and hear, there are plenty of venues here and lots of activities that keep students far from bored.

UM Buses – They are fast and reliable. Usually crowded, but that's one of the "perks" of attending a major university.
College Junior 2012-05-01T19:33:01Z
Buses Are Fabulous – I would definitely say that the buses are great at the University of Michigan. For students, even the city buses are free. The buses also get you pretty much anywhere you need to go, which is very convenient for those of us who don't have cars. The only complaint I have is the quality of bus driving, with the blue university buses. I am always afraid I will die every time I set foot on one of those buses; the drivers are incredibly careless and jerky, and I have been knocked over by other falling passengers because of this poor driving. The routes and cost, however, are perfectly fine.

Guys & Girls:
Reviewing U of M Guys – Pretty much all the guys are book smart. The real issue here is, very few seem to have common sense or decency. If you have devout Christian beliefs, like I do, you'll probably find that the vast majority of guys (students period, really) are pretty anti-Christianity... and act like it, too. The best place to find a good guy is at church, or at some kind of event meant purely for helping others. My experience is, engineers are actually some of the most decent guys I've met. LSA guys often have a reputation for being frat boys, drunks, or some other such unattractive category.

Guys & Girls:
Nerd School – If you like nerds, there are plenty here. Cute, smart, and awkward. There are also a lot of hipsters. There's a lot of diversity.
However, there is no shortage of awkward-to-the-point-of-annoyance people here. They have intellectual brains, but no social smarts.

School is hard and the workload is heavy, depending on how many credits you take. (I took a lot.) Professors are okay. I've had amazing professors, but also some that aren't as cool (arrogant, incompetent). Registration is easy and online, but because of the large number of people who go here, getting good advising may be difficult. Concentration and Honors advisors seem to be helpful though. The German Department is outstanding, and I never expected to major/minor in it, but I have been very pleased with all my German classes and professors so far.

It's Ann Arbor – This is probably one of the most liberal city ever. People smoke weed openly during Hash Bash. I've never encountered the police busting any places, but I know they're around when it comes to actual crime (violence, assaults, robberies).

Meals cost $10 each if you do the calculations. Food is average, but I've eaten better. Food quality depends on the dining hall you go to. North Quad is one of the better quality ones: good portions, healthy options, delicious. Mojo has the greatest variety, but they sometimes don't stock things up on time. North Campus only has one dining hall, which is kind of a problem.

So many restaurants. All delicious. So many choices.
