It's Tough – Michigan is stingy with the aid unless you're a genius or athlete. I would seek external scholarships, although they are good about need based money.

A lot of my friends drive around campus and finding a parking spot if difficult, especially during the day. Tickets are enforced pretty heavily, it is hard to get away with parking in a permit spot without one. Unless you have stuff figured out, just use the feet.

Still Figuring Things Out – I'm not exactly sure what my major will be. I'm a applicant to the business school and waiting to hear back from them. If I get in, I'll be really excited. The B-School does a great job hooking their students up professionally.

Generally Good – Wi-fi available in almost all dorms. Internet is fast. Printers are always functioning. Great software (ex: virtual sites)
College Senior 2011-05-07T00:58:55Z
It's Great – There are so many options right around campus on north and south university and south state street. They are amazing and affordable for college students if they want to eat outside the dining halls. Main street has very good food but it is a bit pricier.
College Senior 2011-05-07T00:57:11Z
Just Ok – The dining hall food is not very good but there are a lot of options and there is healthy food. There were many "cafes" that you can use part of your meal plan for that were very good and opened much later than the dining halls. No dining halls are open for Saturday night dinner which was a pain.

Marijuana Anyone? Marijuana is everywhere! Hash bash says it all...
Drinking is also popular at the parties, especially Thursday nights.

Guys & Girls:
Nerds, Partiers, and in-Betweens – The girls and boys here don't stand out from each other. Every person fits into 3 categories, nerds, who study all the time and 4 point every semester, the hard-core partiers who don't care what night of the week it is, they party any way, and the in-betweens, those who get good grades and don't really go out much.

Mini Las Vegas! When you walk around The University of Michigan campus, you are in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor. You get the college, academic feel as well as a mini Las Vegas feel at the same time! There is always something to do on and off campus. I love it!

Have Fun, but Be Smart. I feel the campus police are lenient for the most part, but strict when absolutely necessary. As long as you don't do anything stupid, you will enjoy your time here.

I feel there is a large variety of off campus living options; whether you want luxury student apartment living or the cheapest thing possible, they are available. Knowing these options are available and right next to campus is very convenient. Because the bus system works very well over here, I had no need for a car, so no fuss with parking.

Health & Safety:
Efficient, but Safe? I feel like there is a lot of crime that happens here on campus. Thankfully, authorities quickly send out campus crime notifications explaining what happened, where it happened, what the suspects might look like, etc. Even though this is a very useful tool, I still feel rather unsafe knowing how often these types of things occur.

I love it here. I originally chose to come here strictly based on the academic rigor of my intended program. However, once I got here and got involved in more extracurricular activities, I was overwhelmed with all the things other than academics that this college has to offer. I have made some of my best friends here and I have never been happier.

Highly Diverse – There is a high concentration of different races at U of M. There are many different venues that celebrate multiculturalism and by attending this university, I feel I have become more well-versed in the different cultures that this world harbors.

Honors Housing – South Quad is in a great location and the Honors freshman community is great. It is so easy to make friends when all of your fellow Honors classmates are living right down the fall from you. However, South Quad also houses the athletes who can get pretty rowdy, especially during finals seasons. There were over 20 fire alarms pulled over the course of the year which got very annoying.

The winter here last from November to April (6 months) aka HALF THE YEAR. Find a nice coat, and don't expect to see the sun much. The temperature is not bad, but it is very bleak most of the time. Fall and Spring are great though, while they last.

Partying or Goin' Out – In all the college movies, parties are WILD are prevalent. As a freshman, if out don't have older friends, and aren't part of a Frat or Sorwhoreity, don't expect to have many "crazy times". House parties are rare, and very exclusive. There are no such thing as "dorm parties", although there is lots of pregaming in dorms. If you want to get wasted, bang chicks, and be a bro, def join a frat. Its the only way to regularly party.

Football games are dope! Everybody goes to them, and they are exciting and chill. The team's on an upswing, so the next years are gonna be sick! The cops are chill about underage drinking before games, just don't vomit or you may be cited and MIP. Football is definitely the big one here on campus, and no one cares about baskteball. Hockey games are fun but not well attended like football games.

It's Awesome Here – Ann Arbor is the greatest place on earth. I love it here. If you let your social life rule your academic life, then it could be trouble. You have to study here; it isn't all parties. I had a rough time before I came here. Three colleges later, I ended up at Auburn, where my heart told me to go.

The arb is a great outdoor place to talk a walk and it is beautiful, there are a ton of great restaurants on main street, the campus and buildings are beautiful, the students are all smart and doing things with their lives, and there are great academic progams such as the business school.

greek life is a big part of campus if you want to be involved, there are plenty of people not in greek life but they can tend to be weird at times. greek life is a good way to expand your networks and get involved in the campus.

off campus housing is extrmely expensive and hard to find, most people live in their sorority or fraternity sophomore year to avoid finding housing
College Senior 2011-04-07T01:26:15Z
Parking is very limited near most residents halls which makes it difficult for visitors to find parking spots. On most weekends, parallel parking spots and even some parking garages are crowded creating a difficult parking situation.

There are University buses and county buses, but they don't run regularly or on time.

Very Diverse Environment – It's pretty diverse, and there are a lot of multiculural events.
