Do Residential College. It's a lot of work, but if you're already interested in language the intensive language requirement just gets it out of the way. There are incredible options for classes, majors and the atmosphere is wonderful. There is no "Michigan Attitude" in the RC

Spring Classes!

Take spring classes! It's only a few extra weeks (since we have a four month long summer, that's not a problem at all). The weather in Ann Arbor at that time is fantastic. You can relax, get a job, and fulfill some requirements to take some stress off!

You Never Have to Leave Campus

The campus is located so close to downtown that there is really no reason to ever leave. There is so much going on all the time. Anyone who is bored it is their own fault. There are so many school clubs, activities, social events, music programs there is never time to get bored. The school sets a high standard in its academic learning that if you are not seriour about learning you do not belong there.

  • The Naked Mile: The Naked Mile is a Michigan tradition that is often emulated on campuses around the country; students run through the streets naked in the spring.
  • Wade in the Water: At orientation, your leader will make you walk through the fountain, just outside of the Michigan League, in the direction of the Diag and the Grad Library. It is a tradition that upon graduation, you walk through the fountain the opposite way, toward Rackham Hall, home of Michigan’s Graduate Department.
Urban Legends
  • If you kiss someone under the West Hall Arch at midnight, that’s the person you’re going to marry.
  • If you step on the “M” in the center of the Diag, you’ll fail your first bluebook exam.
  • The pumas outside the doors of the Museum of Natural History only roar on two occasions: when Michigan beats Ohio State in football and when a virgin graduates from the University.
