Reviewing U of M Guys

Pretty much all the guys are book smart. The real issue here is, very few seem to have common sense or decency. If you have devout Christian beliefs, like I do, you'll probably find that the vast majority of guys (students period, really) are pretty anti-Christianity... and act like it, too. The best place to find a good guy is at church, or at some kind of event meant purely for helping others. My experience is, engineers are actually some of the most decent guys I've met. LSA guys often have a reputation for being frat boys, drunks, or some other such unattractive category.

So many restaurants. All delicious. So many choices.

Magic Bus Schedule

Michigan's campus transportation system is called the "Magic Bus" system. It is provided as part of tuition so there is no additional cost. It is very convenient and you can access the bus routes, stops, and minutes till arrival/departure from any place on campus (and it is a very large campus) using a smartphone. The local bus system work congruently with the campus system. There are also trains and buses to take students to the nearest station and airport.

Great Place

Ann arbor is a great city and the local people are very welcoming. There are activities for all ages on campus and off.

Chemistry

Pursuing a major in Chemistry at U of M provides many opportunities.The professors are passionate about what they do, and they are always willing to help. All you have to do is get to know them, and a lot of great opportunities will be made available to you. But be careful, Gen Chem is pretty easy but beyond that most Chem classes are tough.

Language Learning at U of M

The language programs and professors are excellent. There should be more of an emphasis on helping students study abroad and funding for students' travel.

Beautiful College Town

The town is a wonderful college town with a lot of shopping, restaurants, and activities.

So Much to Offer

being such a large school, michigan really offers everything that you could possibly need. and has the alumni connections to get you a job

Fantastic

The new Crisler Arena is absolutely phenomenal. The basketball facilities are top notch. The campus gyms are okay. The libraries are great and the union is nice.

Music

I am very happy with my program. It is preparing me for my future in the field of music and as a collaborative pianist. I would do it again too. I am concern about finding a job in my field because we have a lot of demand but there are a lot of pianists out there.

Ann Arbor

It is the place to be if you want to hag out during the night. Downtown ann arbor has everything.

Crimes

I feel quite safe on campus and see campus police when I am at school too. But sometimes I get the crime alert emails and it scares me to walk at night at school.

Amount Could Have Been a Little Higher

I received financial aid, although I still had to take out several loans just to cover the cost of everything. There aren't many scholarships that students can apply for directly through the University and they don't advertise them very well.

Go Big, Go Blue!

There is nothing like athletics at the University of Michigan. From Football Saturdays to the night basketball games, the sports dominate this college. The town and campus comes alive when the sports do. Not only are the varsity sports amazing, but there is just about every sort of sport imaginable here with the club and IM sports. Athletics is definitely one of the highlights of the University of Michigan.

Something for Everyone!

Ann Arbor is a great college town. It has so many fun shops and restaurants that keep everyone occupied and busy. It also has great areas like the Wide World of Sports, the Ann Arbor Ice Cube, and the Campus Recreational Buildings to use in the areas of sports. Not only does it end there, but the athletic facilities are amazing- Ann Arbor is the greatest on game day. It is a great size- not too big to get completely lost in, but not too small to get bored in- there is something for everyone here!

There are many dining hall options, but the food is not the best.

Computers

There are many computers available all over campus. Look and you will find!

FOOTBALL

Every Saturday in the fall Ann Arbor becomes a different place as everyone heads for the Big House. Campus is crazy and so much fun. School spirit here is like nothing I've ever seen before. Basketball and hockey games are also a lot of fun however they are not the huge event that each and every football game is.

Marijuana Is Decriminalized in the City.

Marijuana is a decriminalized offense in ann arbor, so there is quite a bit of it. Worth noting is that the university is on state property, so possession of marijuana on campus is still a felony. People usually aren't obnoxious about it.

Overall Experience

I love it here. The class choices are great and the atmosphere is incredible. U of M is really good at getting the small city feeling out of a large city with lots of options and opportunities. The only thing I don't like is that the more credits you have the earlier you can register for classes, so as a freshman you get stuck with all of the classes that nobody else wants and it's hard to find out what you want to do as a major when all the classes you want are taken by people that already have an idea.

Computers on Campus

The availability of computers is great, and the speed is a little above average. However, the amount of free paper given to each student is a little stingy and there seems to be only a very select amount of places on campus where you can print off things you find on the University site, at other printing sites they'll just print off blank pages.

On Campus Bus Service

The on campus bus service is fairly convenient, the only issue is that it is not always reliable. Dress warmly, because in the winter you could end up waiting 15-20 minutes for a bus.

Overall Experience

Michigan is an excellent school because it allows you to see the best and worst in people from different walks of life. You are able to be independent but there are resources available to you if you seek them out. Professors are extremely knowledgeable about content and there are boundless opportunities for research and obtain knowledge about any given subject. In addition, there are so many opportunities for people to participate in extracurricular activities through student organizations. There are restaurants galore on campus and many more close to campus (i.e. Downtown Ann Arbor, Briarwood Mall). Everything you need is within walking distance and if it's not, you can take the shuttle bus. There are opportunities to explore the arts and enjoy nature (arboretum). There are also opportunities to join student government and make a difference in the community. There are plenty of job opportunities on and off campus for students as well. Michigan is an awesome school! Go Blue!

Off Campus Housing

There are multiple off campus housing options from renting houses to living in apartments. The off campus housing is often very close to campus and are close to bus lines so that you can access campus easily without using a car (free busing for students when you show your ID). Parking is usually only an issue if you live in a house off campus because a lot of students will park in neighborhoods so that they don't have to pay for parking.
