College Prowler Take
Overall, U of M students are fairly satisfied with the public transportation system. They feel that the buses run regularly and are, for the most part, safe and clean. This is especially so for the University buses, which are necessary if you live or take classes on North Campus. Students, however, do have one complaint about public transportation: the system does not have the best operating hours. Many students feel that the buses should run later into the night when, arguably, they are needed most. The University of Michigan bus system is very convenient, and the shuttles run on time. Thousands of students depend on them every day, and the bus system consistently gets good reviews. The public transportation may be another story. With odd hours, and less-than-convenient stops, it may not be worth your time. The best advice: find a friend with a car. Or, then again, unless it’s an emergency, there is hardly a reason to leave what’s within walking distance, since everything you need is right on campus. Just think about that before you hop on the bus.

I made it to graduation without ever riding a University bus, so I have no idea. |

I’m from New York, so as far as I’m concerned, public transportation is lousy. The city buses stop running at like 7:00 p.m. Who decided that public transportation shouldn’t run around the clock? |

I lived off of public transportation because I have no car, and I thought it was pretty good. I was an expert on predicting the bus schedule. |

Taking the bus to North Campus is a pain, but it’s pretty reliable. Supposedly, there are plans to build a monorail linking all the sites on campus. They could use it. Ann Arbor has its own buses that go to the mall and grocery stores, but it’s always helpful to know someone with a large car. |

We have a solid public transportation system here. Campus has buses for anything you need, and there is a bus system through the city for off-campus stuff. |
