Facts

Clubs and Organizations on Campus

The most common groups are those associated with sports or with different ethnic backgrounds. But with the wide variety of groups available, students tend to be involved in at least one of them. If a particular group is not yet set up, a student needs five officers (current students with valid umn.edu email ID) and $25 to start a new group. The officers must sign the registration forms and write a constitution for the new group. There is a new group registration meeting held in the Coffman Memorial Union a few times every semester.

Did You Know?
  • A fun new group that emerged at the U of M campus is a Harry Potter-inspired Quidditch league. The team made it to nationals and played in NYC.
  • A nontraditional and very innovative U of M group is Campus People Watchers. It is a "non-profit non-creepy organization" for students who enjoy analyzing people in their natural habitats. It is true that everyone does it, but doing it as an organization is a new idea. Some of their past events have included watching people in Dinkytown on the weekends (a lot of drunk people) and attending comedy shows.
