College Prowler Take
The strictness on campus depends on what you’re doing and when you’re doing it. If it’s a football weekend and you’re walking around the Grove, don’t be naïve and think that all of those beautiful women you see are happy just because they’re watching football. It’s because they have a little something extra in those red Solo cups they’re holding. The alcohol policy is really confusing, and it seems as if even the campus police don’t understand it. Don’t be surprised if you end up breaking the rules without meaning to do so. The typical rule of thumb on game days and at parties is this: if it’s in a cup, it’s fine. Drugs are a whole different story. The University Police Department, the University itself, and the Oxford Police Department all take drugs and drug-related paraphernalia very seriously. There are stiff fines that accompany these policies, as well as possible jail time or expulsion from the University. Another thing that you don’t mess around with in Oxford is drinking and driving. Over the past few years, there have been several alcohol-related accidents. The University and the city both created an alcohol task force to figure out how to handle drinking and driving. They’ve tried to help students understand that if they do go out and get drunk without having a designated driver, then there are still other options. Take Rebel Ride or call a cab so you don’t risk an accident. It’s safe to say that strictness waivers between a fairly lenient drinking policy (when no driving is involved) and strict visitation and dorm rules.

I'm not sure about drugs, but campus policies about drinking are pretty lax. There are a lot of rules, but none of them are too strictly enforced.

Campus police are very strict about drugs, drinking, and other campus regulations. I'm not sure exactly what the consequences are, but I know that they can get pretty severe.

The alcohol policy on campus is...
The alcohol policy on campus is pretty transparent. Basically, don't get caught and you'll be fine. If you go about flaunting that you're drinking, you'll most likely get what's coming to you. However, if you're smart about it and respect the rules, you'll be just fine. Use your head.

Campus policies are very strict on campus and try to rid the image of Ole Miss as a party school. Just know that it's not worth it to drink and drive!

The University Police Department...
The University Police Department strictly enforces the school's no alcohol policy. Fraternities and Sororities caught on a first offense have many consequences, including the chance to rush incoming freshmen until the next school year. However, drinking in the dorm rooms is pretty easy to do. Just don't place any alcohol in plain sight or in the fridge. It will be found.
