Comparable Schools' Facilities Grades:
College Prowler Take
Though some buildings may not look appealing from the outside, the insides of these buildings have been kept in good shape and continuously renovated over the years. These facilities are just waiting for their exterior faces to match the attractive settings within. The most popular facility, in terms of looks and functionality, is the Turner Center. It houses the campus’ fitness equipment. Many students feel that it is a great athletic facility. It has everything from swimming pools to Ping-Pong tables to studios for group exercise classes. Though the Student Union looks like it came straight out of the ‘70s, it has a lot to offer. The bookstore, the box office, the university post office, the Southern Breeze, and some decent restaurants are all housed in the Union. It’s also pretty centrally located on campus. The J.D. Williams Library, the University’s main library, is open until 2 a.m. It’s also open 24 hours starting two weeks before finals.

The library on campus is an incredibly gorgeous building with a very impressive collection. The Student Center is not anything special, simply a place to buy books and get lunch. The athletic facilities, however, are top-notch. The Turner Center, our fitness center, is very well supplied and staffed with an indoor pool, huge weight room, and tons of exercise equipment.

The Turner Center boasts a large fitness area with weightlifting equipment, swimming pools, racquetball, basketball, and tennis courts, among other things. They also offer classes in everything from kickboxing to water aerobics. In the past few years, there have been many renovations to the facility, including new furniture, a renovation of the food court area, and the creation of a student game room known as Southern Breeze. On the main level of the Union, there’s a large area with tables for last-minute group study sessions that’s sometimes a better option than the library. Also on this floor are chairs for watching TV, eating lunch, and killing time. |

Even though some buildings might look a little old from the outside, most facilities on campus are fairly nice on the inside. The computer labs are very up-to-date and have a lot of new computers to work on. The Union takes on a kind of comfortable character that grows on you. The Turner Center is very modern; all the workout equipment, basketball courts, and racquetball courts are in great shape and are a pleasure to use. |

Ole Miss has excellent facilities. They have a state-of-the-art workout center available to all students. Ole Miss alumni continuously pour money into the school, so buildings are constantly being renovated. The Student Union could use some improvement. Having a decent place to eat between classes is hard to find, unless you are part of the Greek system. |

The athletic center is busy, but generally very well maintained. Computers are updated and clean. Student centers can range from grubby to feeling as if you should be wearing a formal dress. The aesthetics are gorgeous, and they can really contribute to a feeling of academia. |
FactsWhat To Do on Campus
Go for a swim, a run, play a little tennis, or just sit in the Grove and do a little homework or pleasure reading. You can also check out two separate art collections: one at the School of Southern Studies and the other at the Mary Buie/Kate Skipwith Museum.
Favorite Things To Do
There are tons of different things to do off campus, but some students don’t take advantage of the opportunities on campus. Recently, students have caught the fever and often play a pick-up game of ultimate Frisbee in the Grove. There’s always an exhibit to check out on display in the School of Southern Studies in Barnard Observatory. You can also go to the J.D. Williams Library and into the Music/Blues Archive to learn more about famous musicians while listening to their collections, which they donated to the archive.
