Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

As the numbers show, the girls outnumber the guys at Ole Miss. This is great for the guys, but not so much for the girls. Even though the men are so outnumbered, it seems that there’s never a shortage of guys to date. It’s good to be a girl in Mississippi, because chivalry is not dead in the South. Ole Miss has some true Southern gentlemen who open doors, pay for meals, make the right phone calls, and edit their language around ladies. Most of the time, girls can expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. However, the general consensus is that the girls are much more attractive than the guys here. They’re well-bred, well-spoken, and drop-dead gorgeous. Ole Miss has produced more Miss Americas than any other school in the nation.

If you are female and thinking about coming to Ole Miss, know that the guys will treat you well and take care of you. But you should also know that going to Ole Miss is tough work, because a lot is expected of you. It seems like you’re supposed to work out and keep a very trim, athletic frame—no matter how your guy looks. Ladies, remember: maintain a confident air and don’t let people put you down because of what the scale says. Be comfortable with yourself, and the guys will find you irresistible, too.

Genuine, Naive, Beautiful,

Beautiful women,,.underserved reputation of girls being snobby b/c most are very sweet..in regards to how many OM girls are a product of their environment of which they were raised, too many are overly dependent and way too naive of worldy things and tend to conform a little too much... BUT at the same time, they're naturally sweet, warm hearted all while portraying a disrespectful, non cordial attitude/disposition, as that is very foreign in their 'make-up' and most couldn't do it, even if they tried--the sweetness is genuine and golden...WHAT WOULD MAKE A PERFECT GIRL IN MY OPINION?,: born and raised in MS, attend Ole Miss, move to NYC and live there no longer than 2 years and travel as much as possible, move back to Mississippi and reside...

As Southern as Southern Can Be

If you aren't from the South, you'll have a very hard time fitting in with the kids here. They keep to themselves and their attitudes.

Most Everyone Is Attractive

You'll be hard pressed to find someone who is unnattractive at Ole Miss. Most of the girls go to class every day with a full face of makeup and their hair done. Guys wear khakis and polo shirts. In general, the student body has a preppy look.

What kinds of relationships have you had since coming to school?

How would you rate the social scene on campus?

Facts

Social Scene

When you arrive on campus, there may be a few people there you went to high school with. Then again, you may not know anyone. Either way, step out of your shell and meet new people. There is always some kind of university-sponsored event to attend, and there are plenty of organizations to join. If you like to go out, Oxford has a great bar scene and good frat parties.

Hookups or Relationships?

As it is just about anywhere, the girls are typically looking for relationships, while the guys are usually into playing the field. Usually, by their junior or senior year, the guys are ready to settle down, and the girls have found the right guy for them and end up in committed relationships.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

It depends on what kind of guy or girl you’re looking for and what you’re into. You might meet someone who shares your interests in one of your classes or a club you’re involved with. If you like going out, frat parties and bars are the best places to meet someone. If you’re religious, one of the faith-oriented campus venues, such as the Baptist Student Union, is a good place to meet a prospective date.

Dress Code

For a so-called “prep school,” people don’t dress up as much as you’d think. A large majority of the girls come to class in oversized T-shirts, Nike athletic shorts and Rainbow flip flops or tennis shoes. In the winter, they add leggings, a North Face jacket and Ugg boots to the ensemble. The guys generally dress in polos or T-shirts and khakis or jeans. If you’re stuck trying to find something to wear, you can’t go wrong with a T-shirt and jeans.
