College Prowler Take

Mizzou students don’t have a consistent opinion when it comes to the campus’ technological characteristics. There are a lot of actual computers on campus, and many of them are acceptable to type a paper and to check e-mail. It is probably a good idea to bring a computer to school, since you might not want to store all your writing materials on a public computer. And, regardless of which model you bring, you will get broadband Internet access.

When the Internet is working properly, broadband makes the Internet go really fast. But, when it’s not working, it can be a royal pain in the butt. This is especially bad, because e-mail is crucial for every student who goes to Mizzou—it’s the method that most instructors use to communicate with their students. On the plus side, the University is slowly becoming completely wireless, which consequently has resulted in a laptop boom throughout campus. At Mizzou, the tecnology has its downsides—but it’s certainly on the rise.

Good Computers, One Problem

B+

I have always been able to find a spot at my computer lab. They work reliably and fast. The printing isn't always great, sometimes it is out of paper, there are no staples in the stapler, or somebody puts used printed-on paper in the printer. This is a hassle because you pay money to print, and end up receiving a printed paper you cannot use.

Every dorm has a computer lab in it. They generally are accessible, in working order, and not a problem. I had a laptop while I was in the dorms, which was nice, but certainly not necessary, especially if money is an issue. There are many computer labs on campus, and the information technology teams are generally very good if you need help.
