Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Although it has its blemishes, most students just can’t say enough about the University of Nebraska. They love the atmosphere, they love the activities, and, most of all, they love the people they have met here. Students here believe that almost any college can provide a great experience if you come to school with the right attitude and work ethic, and they agree that UNL is no different.

All in all, it is quite common for prospective students to put UNL on the back burner and place the more glamorous private schools first on their agendas. But, students eventually learn that Nebraska’s academics and culture are almost the same as any other place. When it comes to good people and high spirits, there’s really no other place like it.

Campus Strictness at University of Nebraska - Lincoln

Not Too Strict

The only thing that I've ever really heard people getting in trouble for on campus is serious drugs. If you're caught with serious drugs in the dorms (Marijuana isn't considered here), you will instantly be kicked out of the dorms. Just don't do it. If you're drunk and able to handle yourself, you'll be fine. Just know your limits.

So Many Choices

There are so many different restaurants to choose from off-campus. If you want Mongolain BBQ, there's a restaurant for that. Indian? A five minute drive. There is literally every kind of food you can imagine all within a ten minute drive from campus. They're all relatively cheap for students, as well. I don't think I've ever paid more than $20 for an entire meal, including appetizers.

Freshman Housing

There are many options for freshman to choose from for housing. Selleck is convenient, but small. HSS, Abel/Sandoz and Knoll are the best living options.
