College Prowler Take

Campus dining has improved in the past few years and has its perks. The Dining Commons has surprisingly good food. After paying a cover charge, you can choose whatever you want from an array of foods in true Vegas fashion: buffet-style. The Dining Commons is especially suitable for big eaters since multiple trips are allowed. Unless students are taking classes in the art building, the education building, or the biology building, the Sidewalk Café is inconvenient. Burger King, Pizza Hut, and a few convenience store-type items are offered there. Unfortunately, when more than eight or so people are in the building, it gets cramped. Once out of the building, there are umbrella-covered tables, which are a nice place to sit when the weather is decent.

Since the remodel of the Moyer Student Union and the addition of the Balance Café in the Recreation and Wellness Center, new dining options are available that both satiate the need for tasty eats and provide some variety. The SU houses the popular Starbucks, Jamba Juice, and Panda Express, and the Balance Café offers a healthy, multicultural menu as well as smoothies that students love.

The Dining Commons is okay at first; they charge too much, and it gets boring and disgusting really fast. It’s not somewhere I ate after the first weeks. The union and fast food restaurants across the street are popular.

I’ve never been to the dining halls. I’ve been to the Sidewalk Café (Burger King and Pizza Hut). The Pizza Hut part is great, but the Café is ridiculously small, so rush hour (12 p.m. to 1 p.m.) is a nightmare.

Dining hall food is okay. Usually you can only find one thing edible, but it’s not too horrible. It has gotten better over the last few years.

There are several places to eat on campus. There are the Dining Commons (mostly used by students living in the dorms), there is the Sidewalk Café, where you can find Pizza Hut and Burger King, and there is also the MSU.
