Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Alright, so apparently the Greeks haven’t realized yet that UNLV was built. If fraternity or sorority life is important to you, be prepared to spend a little extra time to make sure you get the kind of experience you want. Greek life is by far not the biggest thing on campus, but if you’re involved in it, then you’ll always have something to do. The main problem with the Greeks is that they haven’t established themselves. They’re not known for the wild parties that students might want to attend, but they’re also not known for any kind of philanthropy or academic performance. Though, they have become a bit more visible than they were a few years ago. For the most part, they’re just kind of there.

Greeks show up at the beginning of each semester in large droves. The beginning of the semester is when they start recruiting people into their ranks. Booths with tables, trophies, pictures, and member-hungry fraternities and sororities line the walkway in front of the CBC building and the MSU. The Greeks are not pervasive, though, so you can usually walk by the tables in peace without getting bothered by recruiters. If you do join, you can expect to find life-long friends—as long as you give the whole thing a chance.

Greek Students Are Viewed by Non-Greeks

I am not familiar with the Greek Life at my University so I don't really pay attention to them.

Im Not a Greek Member but a Friend Is

The greek life on campus is almost not there. There are no actual greek housing or greek row. The members do not wear much of there letters except at the start of the new school year. I have not seen many houses put together events but I'm sure that some of them do try to organize something.
