Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Whatever you’re looking for in a partner, you can find it. The guys at UNLV are varying degrees of hot. What’s your type? Do you like surfer dudes? Check. Skater boys? Check. Greek guys? Geek guys? Check, check. Athletes? Check. As for girls, the variety is just as big. While many argue that the girls all look the same or all dress on trend, they concede to their hotness factor. Beyond the cookie cutter looks, the artsy girls, geeks, punk rockers, and Asian fashionistas are eye candy as well. Just keep in mind, though, that not everyone is looking for love. But all things aside, UNLV has a pretty good-looking student body.

Generally, people tend to be a little less inviting in Vegas, because many students come to campus only for classes before returning to their off-campus lives. A lot of UNLV students went to high school in Las Vegas and already have their social circles established. If you’re new to the area, it could be a bit more difficult to really get to know people. However, the students get friendlier as faces become familiar, especially when classes are smaller.

Guys and Girls at UNLV

I think that the ratio of guys to girls would be that there are definetly more girls. The girls seem more well kept than the guys. Girls seem to appear in better close and cleanliness. The guys seem to be more towards the grunge look from what I have seen. They always have skateboards to use to get from one building to the other.

A Decent Spread

You have your lookers, your obvious smarties, a fair share of jocks and a jumble of in-betweens. Whatever you're looking for is pretty much here.

Girls Are Meant for Guys

Nine times out of ten males are in cahoots with each other in ditching class for the party of the year. Hey, no one's judging them, we all love to have fun. In the end, the guys scramble to the girls begging for their notes and tutoring, for the final. Yeah, girls are meant for guys.

How would you rate the social scene on campus?

Facts

Social Scene

UNLV is a commuter campus, and at many times, it shows. As soon as classes end, many students whip out their cell phones and are talking on them before they leave the building. For those new to the school, it is sometimes difficult to make friends unless you join clubs or activities. It is not uncommon to see students who are coming back to school after marriage and/or having children, yet these people are not normally at school for the social scene.

Hookups or Relationships?

Though many students are single and looking for love, a fling, or aren’t looking at all, many students at UNLV are in a serious relationship, engaged, or married. It really depends on who you hang out with.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

Believe it or not, classrooms are a good place to meet people. If it is a class specific to your major, chances are, you’ll meet someone who will share common career interests, and you will have something to talk about. Many of the food places across Maryland Parkway have outside seating where many students hang out (sometimes for hours) between classes. These places are good for meeting various kinds of people, because everyone eats. If all else fails on campus, go off campus. Las Vegas is full of people looking to have a good time.

Dress Code

The clothing varies. Many girls wear trendy clothing; they almost look like cookie cut-outs. However, there are many other looks on campus also. It is not abnormal to see people in office attire—many students have full-time jobs and families to juggle on top of their schoolwork—sitting in classrooms with students dressed to go clubbing. People can wear pretty much anything and not look out of place.
