If it isn’t the best place on the planet for food, then Las Vegas is certainly in the top three. Vegas is a hotbed for master chefs who are out to prove their worth to whoever is willing to taste. Vegas cuisine is the contemporary New York and San Francisco combined, forming an exciting atmosphere for any person with difficult taste buds to please. Wolfgang Puck, Michael Mina, and Cindy Hutsun are just three of the many stars you can find cooking up a storm at the hotels.

For those who don’t have money to burn, there are still many decent places to eat. Like any city, Las Vegas has franchise restaurants like Buca di Beppo and Buffalo Wild WIngs, as well as local restaurants that can be good alternatives to hotel fine dining, but for half the price. The city is also full of cheap eats, where $10 will fill both you and a friend for the rest of the day. There are many places near campus to grab a bite. Fast food joints line the street across from UNLV’s east side, and many other restaurants are scattered all around the school. Chinese food, seafood, Mexican food, and Greek food are only some of the choices in close proximity to UNLV. The Freakin’ Frog is great for beer lovers: they offer more than 600 beers, many that you can’t get anywhere else in Nevada.

Not Much to Choose from

The school is not in the best area of town. There is a high level of crime in the area. The off-campus options are about the same as the on-campus options: standard fast food. If you're up for a good walk, there is an excellent Mediterranean restaurant nearby (Paymon's) and a little further up the road is the Boulevard Mall... also mostly fast food. Anything NOT fast food will probably require a bus or cab ride if the student doesn't have his own means of transportation. It is a low-income area.

Best Places to Check Out

Cafe Rio is one of the best off campus dining. The food is fresh and taste great for good price. There are many places off campus but I have not gotten the chance to try them out from fast food to bars.

UNLV Student Dining Has Alot to Offer

UNLV has the buffet style student dining which is great. But there is also various other restourants in the student union that i like to frequent more often. There is also a huge abundance of nice and interesting restaurants within walking distance or a short drive from the campus.
