There are no parties on campus, and we don't really have frat houses. However, if you're looking for a party, there will always be flyers! Just don't be dissapointed---for a lot of the clubs you have to be 21 but not always.

The biggest issue when it comes to...

The biggest issue when it comes to drinking and drugs is really if you live on campus. It only takes one offense to get you kicked out, so just be smart. Getting caught drinking underage on campus is definitely not going to be a good thing.

The facilities are better than I expected. The library has ample space for studying, and the athletic equipment all seems to work.

Las Vegas has only two types of...

Las Vegas has only two types of weather: either really, really hot in the summer or really, really cold in the winter. I advise to bring a lot of shorts, tanks, and flip flops for the summer and a warm winter coat. During spring season and fall, it's really nice weather so you can even wear spring dresses and fall gowns without bringing a light jacket.

UNLV does have a good security...

UNLV does have a good security system. There are always cops patrolling the area and going through parking lots making sure our cars are safe. We even have cops on horses to help with traffic when students need to cross the street. Overall, I feel safe on campus.

The facilities at UNLV are getting...

The facilities at UNLV are getting better each year. Just recently, the wellness and rec center building opened up. There is an indoor track, indoor swimming pool, free instruction classes, and a walk-in pharmacy with diet and nutrition experts on hand to give you an evaluation. Also, the student union was newly renovated last year, and it's become a popular hangout for all students.

I've never been to a party on campus. If you're over 21, there are tons of nightclubs to choose from in the casinos on the Las Vegas strip.

Attempt to get into the honors college and get their dorm floor. It is the nicest floor. Also, the no-substance floors are normally better than the others because the other floors are normally quite disgusting.

Weather is disgustingly hot in the summer, but winter is a different story. Winters in Vegas can be strange, with some days being warm and others freezing or below.

Security is being beefed up, but...

Security is being beefed up, but if you have a bike, I would suggest having a hard-core lock system, like maybe two or three. Bikes are commonly stolen. Also, the school is in a high-crime area, so don't walk alone. Ladies, I suggest pepper spray as a good item to have with you at all times. The school itself is generally very safe, but the areas surrounding the school are not good.

It's freezing in the winter and...

It's freezing in the winter and blazing hot from mid-spring through early-fall. Have a sweatshirt handy for the nights.

Most of the facilities are nice....

Most of the facilities are nice. The new Recreation and Wellness Center needs more lockers.

The dorms here are much nicer than...

The dorms here are much nicer than the dorms at other schools. I think that the newer Tonapahs, central and south, and Dayton are the best.

Stay out of anything but the Upper...

Stay out of anything but the Upper Class Complex, Tonopah central and south, or the Dayton Complex. All the others are horrible. And they charge way too much.

What the guys are like depends on...

What the guys are like depends on their major. The art guys are interesting but generally short. The anthropology guys are relatively hot but severely focused, so you’d have to take that subject very seriously to get anywhere with them.

Most people seem pretty friendly....

Most people seem pretty friendly. There are some classes you’ll take that may be filled with anti-social students, but for the most part, it’s not hard to make friends. There is a nice variety of people and races on campus. One disappointment I found after moving to Vegas from San Diego was, ‘I don’t think I’ll be living in a city with girls as hot as they were back home.’ No offense to the ones here, but I think that’s just a Southern Cali thing. So, that was a downfall I realized after moving here. Oh, and none of the remotely cute ones are single, either.

There are several apartment complexes near campus. The problem is, the campus isn’t in the best area in the world. But you can find something nice within 15 minutes.

Football is big, despite the team never performing to expectations, although the game against UNLV’s rival, the University of Nevada, Reno, is an event.

Sporting events are personally my favorite events that happen on campus. I wish they were bigger, but lack of student support makes games less electric than they should be.

The games are a big deal to go to...

The games are a big deal to go to because it encourages school pride and unity. It is also a great social function to get together with friends while supporting the school. Intramural sports are really important to Greeks; they promote friendly competition.

Since I work for UNLV Tickets, I can tell you that many students are pretty big on sports. You basically see the same people attend the games and show a lot of school spirit.

The varsity sports that seem to be big are basketball and football. Besides those, I don’t really hear much of other sports. Intramural sports are semi-known but not very popular.
