Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Las Vegas has two types of weather: really hot and cold. There are just a few weeks of ultra-comfortable transitioning weather. Summer starts early and ends late here—it’s not unusual to be wearing shorts on Halloween. Temperatures can reach a scorching 120 degrees, so be prepared with sunscreen and lots of breathable clothing. Heat exhaustion is common, so you also have to drink plenty of water in the heat.

In winters past, Las Vegas has seen more and more snow, though it melts within a day or so and that degree of cold only comes in bursts. If you’re coming from harsh winters, welcome to Heaven, and be prepared to see locals enthusiastically taking pictures and puzzling over the correct application of snow chains. As far as clothes go, you’ll just need a winter coat and sweaters to layer.

Too HOT!

The weather is dreadfully hot during the first few months of the fall semester, but when winter gets around, it gets pretty chilly. At least we don't live in the East Coast or the MidWest.

Its a Desert Out Here!

Here in las vegas we have two main types of weather. HOT AND HOTTER! just kidding. Most people really do know las vegas for its hot weather. However, winters can be very cold. Sometimes we get snow...just a little! The rain and wind are very random. Sometimes you don't know what to wear to school because you don't know how the weather will act. It'll be sunny one minute, then storm clouds and thunderstorm warnings!

Heat, Heat, Heat!

We live in a desert and it feels like it! During the winter, spring, or fall, the temperature is moderate and tolerable. During the summer, however, temperatures reach past 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It is advisable to try and stay indoors, but when walking to class, be prepared for the heat! What makes matters worse is that the campus is not covered well, meaning the sun glares down on the students everywhere, except for the "science side" of campus.
