I think the students pay a ridiculous amount for having such a small space.

The dorm rooms are great and the halls are always clean. The campus as a whole is always very clean and well kept.

I lived in Nye and it definitely had its pros and cons. Pros: Awesome social atmosphere. Almost everyone on my wing, give or take four or so people, were really close and went out every weekend. Everyone leaves their doors open and people just walk in and say hi. If your door is closed and you're close to people, they'll just walk in anyway and say hi. Cons: NO HEAT OR A/C. I'm from Vegas (almost everyone here is), so I'm used to the heat. But in Vegas, we have air conditioning. In Reno, it's not as hot, but with no a/c, you can feel it. The first few months in Nye SUCKS because it's HOT. Everyone has three fans going in their rooms at all times and leaves their door open as much as they can. This helps with the social aspect because you bond over how friggin hot it is and everyone's door is open. The winter isn't as bad, but it can get pretty freezing at night, especially when there's that one guy that leaves both his window and his door open at all times, effectively turning the wing into an icebox. Don't be that guy. Everyone hates that guy.
We had cleaning people who cleaned our bathrooms, so it's not as dirty as you might think. It's definitely not your shower at home, but it's not a disgusting jail shower either. It's cleaned with bleach every day.
Don't lay on the floor. There have been way too many people puke on it and do other stuff. Just don't do it.
Oh, some advice I can give is, if you've had too much to drink and need to puke, empty out the recycling bin in your room and puke in there. Don't do it in the bathroom because the RA's do rounds and if they catch you they'll write you up and put you in Basics while you're still puking. They're heartless about that and don't care. Puke in your room. Best advice I can give you.
As for roommates, try to find a friend you like and can stand living with. Random roommates are a hit or miss, usually the latter. One of the randoms on my wing were a tall, brunette tomboy that wore Converse or moccasins every day and the other was a happy, peppy sorority girl that was in love with pink. They did not get along. Second best piece of advice I can give you: room with a friend. Even if you fight a little bit, you'll at least know what you're getting into.

These building are very old. They have done some remolding, but they should aim the money elsewhere. The dorms are being monitored, bust the insides are usually trashy depending on the persons.

Campus housing is not that bad. I like living in the dorms. I like that it is so close to campus and my classes. It's just very expensive.
