Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The campus police don’t seem to bother the students at UNH very much. As long as you are not acting like a fool or putting yourself and others in danger, you’ll be given free reign over your activities on and around campus. Campus police seem to realize that it is a college campus, and they have to pick and choose their battles. Two things that campus police don’t tolerate are drug offenses and underage drinking, especially in the dorms. Some local officers are even infamous for evicting students from the dorms on the first offense—all the more reason to drink intelligently and responsibly.

Residential Life is also very strict when it comes to dorm life, also evicting students for first-time offenses if they are bad enough. Most of the time, though, students are allowed a second chance. There is a mandatory fine for students caught drinking illegally in the dorms. Due to the fact that UNH has been put under the microscope for recent problems including rioting after hockey games and other sporting events, the campus and local police have been much more present during certain high activity weekends. Overall, students at UNH can enjoy their college experiences if they are smart about their actions.

Tough on Alchohol

UNH is pretty strict on underage drinking. Since we have our own police force as opposed to campus security, drinking offenses often result in arrests. If you get caught drinking, you can lose your housing and risk your chance of future participation in study abroad programs.
