College Prowler Take
The campus police don’t seem to bother the students at UNH very much. As long as you are not acting like a fool or putting yourself and others in danger, you’ll be given free reign over your activities on and around campus. Campus police seem to realize that it is a college campus, and they have to pick and choose their battles. Two things that campus police don’t tolerate are drug offenses and underage drinking, especially in the dorms. Some local officers are even infamous for evicting students from the dorms on the first offense—all the more reason to drink intelligently and responsibly. Residential Life is also very strict when it comes to dorm life, also evicting students for first-time offenses if they are bad enough. Most of the time, though, students are allowed a second chance. There is a mandatory fine for students caught drinking illegally in the dorms. Due to the fact that UNH has been put under the microscope for recent problems including rioting after hockey games and other sporting events, the campus and local police have been much more present during certain high activity weekends. Overall, students at UNH can enjoy their college experiences if they are smart about their actions.

Campus police can be a pain in the butt, but just don’t do anything stupid, and you’ll be fine. There are plenty of arrests that happen every weekend from drug- or alcohol-related problems, but only the silly people get caught. Just be responsible, and you won’t have to worry. Don’t have open containers in the dorms or walk down the street after drinking, and you’ll be fine. If you’re being obvious and obnoxious, you’ll get in trouble. There are cops around Frat Row Thursday through Saturday nights, but there are fewer at the apartments. |

Supposedly, this is a dry campus. Police are out every night patrolling the streets for drunken teenagers. However, I have yet to hear of anybody being arrested. UNH housing is another story, though. Drinking in your room is grounds for eviction. They’re not kidding around. |
