College Prowler Take
Although the number of labs might be a bit small for the number of students at UNH, there is always at least one open. Most of the students bring a computer just because it makes their life easier in the end. However, college is not completely impossible without a personal computer. UNH tries very hard to keep their computer programs updated, and the student network is fast and efficient and very rarely malfunctions or shuts down completely. All UNH labs are updated with the newest computers (Dells, Compaqs, and Macs) and are available to all UNH students. So, even if you don’t have the convenience of your own personal computer, the ones provided for you are more than adequate. The campus has many options for renting laptops or purchasing software from a very good computer store on campus. The store also repairs student computers for a good price. UNH has a T3 cable connection to all the dorms, the library, and other computer labs. People with wireless laptops can also get Internet connections in the library. Overall, the computers available on campus are top-of-the-line, and the services offered on campus are very helpful.

If you want to bring a computer, and your only choice is an old one with old programs, don’t bother. UNH uses all the newest programs, and all the professors will ask you to use them as well. |

The labs are not always crowded, but you can always work around that. Just don’t wait until the last minute to do your assignments if you don’t have a computer. I would bring your computer. People are constantly signed on Instant Messenger. IM is your lifeblood at school. |

Bringing your own computer is a good idea—you’ll find you use it a lot. The Internet connection is great—it’s fast, and you can be online all the time. You’ll find AIM is big around here. It’s the way to talk, and it’s much easier than the phone for talking to buddies on or off campus. |

I would recommend bringing your own computer, as there are only two labs open 24 hours a day. They get very crowded around midterms and finals, and it is nearly impossible to get in. |

I would definitely bring your own computer. It’s a hassle to haul all your schoolwork to the clusters. The clusters are never full, and there is always a free computer on campus. There is one computer cluster that is open 24 hours a day, which is helpful. The clusters have both Macs and PCs, which is a plus. The computer network in the dorms is very fast. I am very satisfied with our networking on campus. |
