Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The shuttles around campus and to surrounding towns are usually efficient and on time, mostly due to the small size of Durham and the general area. Around campus, the only shuttle really needed is the West Edge parking lot shuttle. The worst time for buses is around 4 or 5 p.m. when most classes let out and traffic is at its worst. This is when buses can get up to 45 minutes late because there are no alternate roads to take.

To get out of town, transportation services run a route every hour to surrounding towns. During the week, this service goes until 10 p.m., but on the weekends, the service stops running much earlier, so living off campus can be an inconvenience. To get to Logan International Airport, the best way is to have a friend drive you because the drive is about an hour. If you can’t find a ride, the train goes right through Durham and runs several times per day.

UNH Wildcat Transit

Public transportation is awesome. Buses are running all the time and can bring you to a lot of the really cool spots outside of Durham. If it's late and you're scared to walk back to your dorm you can call a number to have someone pick you up and drive you back safely.

Bus It

The bus system at UNH is convenient during normal daytime hours, but late night transportation is rather unreliable. Saferides is available to off campus transportation on weekend nights, but is often backed up and takes a long time. Parking is incredibly strict and expensive. I've gotten many a ticket.

Buses

The buses are free if you have a student ID which everyone on campus does. And there is always someone on campus that has a car if you need to travel beyond the bus routes.
