It's true that the CAs (community advisers) and UNCG Police are sticklers for the rules when it comes to certain things, like speed limits and underage drinking, but it is technically their jobs to be the killjoys. It would be nice if the authority on campus were a little more lenient and sympathetic toward students' desires to have a good time, but if you can't beat 'em, at least be a little smarter about breaking the rules. A great solution to avoiding a lot of these problems is to have your fun off campus. If you will be drinking underage, do it in a place where you're a lot less likely to get busted, like at a trusted friend's house or apartment—just don't drive home afterward. If you want to blast your music and hang out with friends, do it in the car while driving around town, or go to a local club.
Unfortunately, there is no quick way out of getting a speeding or parking ticket or getting written up for being obnoxious in the dorms—that is, of course, except for not doing these things in the first place. Most of the rules at UNCG are in place for the very logical reason of allowing other students to live safely and comfortably.
