One thing’s for sure: Greek life definitely doesn’t dominate the social scene on campus. Sure, you may hear about the frat parties, but there are always other options for weekend fun. At UNCG, there are several fraternities and sororities to pledge if that is your kind of thing, but they’re easy to ignore if it isn’t. In fact, many students are quite oblivious to any Greek happenings on campus at all, and some prefer it to stay that way.

Among those actually involved in UNCG’s fraternities and sororities, the vast majority is very pleased with the experience. They like the sense of brotherhood or sisterhood, and many walk away with amazing memories. Most fraternities and sororities perform some type of philanthropy, and the community service work that they do helps organizations like the Ronald McDonald House, Relay for Life, and children’s hospitals, just to name a few. All in all, if the fraternities and sororities are making a difference in the community, who can blame them for throwing an awesome party every now and then? All work and no play is certainly not a Greek value.
