we have a stunning campus. So many places to sit quietly. Amazing recreation center that will include an outdoor swimming pool this Spring.

I enjoy all my classes. Have not declared my major yet but it will be in Biology. I want to go on to Grad School for Animal Science and then go on to Animal Nutrition. Want to work at Disneys Animal Kingdom.

The weather here is always nice and manageable. It doesn't snow and it doesn't rain that often either. Although when it does rain a lot of places around campus get flooded because of the poor draining systems. In the summers it does get very hot and muggy but the beach is always a nice option when you're not in class! Spring and fall are always the nicest times of the year.

For the most part the weather at UNCW is warm and manageable. However, there are many times when it rains. It can be sunny one moment on campus and the next there is a downpour that completely drenches you on the way to class. Besides the rain, the weather is amazing her at UNCW.

Health & Safety:
As a student at UNCW, I know that I want to be safe in everything I do. There has not been a time on campus where I haven't been safe because there are emergency buttons all over campus. The Campus Security is always on task and as long as you do the things you are supposed to do you will be able to live with good health and safety at UNCW.

At UNCW the drug scene is kept on the down low. I, myself, am not the kind of person who takes part in either the partying or the drug scene. However, most of the time people are drinking rather than doing drugs. Drugs do still exist on campus, but not in a very outspoken way so that everyone knows about them.

Many different dining options conveniently located

So many majors to choose from and a great resource center to help you with your major choice as well as help you find a job.

UNCW really helps you step outside of your comfort zone and pushes you to be the best person you can possibly be. There are many different programs such as the study abroad program which help you learn about different cultures and experience them first hand

UNCW's campus is small enough so that you won't feel like you're lost but big enough to meet new faces everyday. The campus is wonderful if you like to walk, ride a bike, or long board. The students and staff are always willing to help and everyone is super friendly. There are a lot of different course and major offerings and you will never be bored.

Some classes will be harder than others, of course, but I've never been dragging due to a lack of time. If you stay motivated and keep track of your assignments, you should be able to get them all done. I'm able to balance my schedule with clubs and a part time job.

Usually the centers are very well maintained and there are plenty of things to do. It would get an A if the Rec Center wasn't currently closed for construction.

Guys & Girls:
There are a lot of beachy girls and surfer guys. It's a coastal environment.

They get the job done, except for the ones provided in the dorm halls.

It never snows or becomes piercingly cold, but it does rain a whole lot!

I don't get very involved in the nightlife of Wilmington.
College Sophomore 2013-01-07T22:34:29Z
I love Wilmington! Espcially Historic Wilmington! It is so pretty with the intercoastal waterway and the Spanish moss on trees. It's hard not to fall in love with it.

Coming from up north I am prepared for snow... but all it does here is rain. A lot. Be prepared with an umbrella, rainboots, and raincoat!

I think that UNCW offers a lot of great courses and professors to teach the courses. The only complaint I have is about the consistency of professors posting grades online. It is almost impossible for me to find my grades until it is the end of the semester!
The activities and amount of things to get involved in on campus are phenomenal. Students only have to be willing to get involved and to make a place for themselves on campus.

Parking for on-campus housing is pretty good and convenient. Commuter parking kind of sucks, but it depends where your classes are. There is a parking deck option available, also. Either way, you will be paying a pretty hefty price for a parking permit. If you live within a one-mile radius from campus, you are not allowed to have a parking permit. You can ride your bike or take the bus system.

UNCW is a medium size school, between 12,000-14,000 students. We don't have football, so I feel like that absence definitely impacts Greek Life (I visited Auburn, so I know how Greek Life thrives on football at some schools). But, they still do fundraisers, formals, mixers, parties, etc. Living at the beach can make some Greek Life events unique to UNCW. But, don't do it unless you are 100% committed. I know people who love it, and people who found out it wasn't for them (and they dropped). Greek life or not, making friends and having fun is easy at UNCW, if you're not anti-social and boring.

Our student rec center has been undergoing a huge expansion and is expected to open Spring 2013. The Student Center and Student Union are well-designed and pleasant to hang out in. The library could definitely use some work. There are new nursing and psychology buildings that have state-of-the-art equipment, classrooms, and labs. There is also a nice parking deck on campus. The freshman dorms could use some work, but on-campus housing for upperclassmen is very nice and updated.

Theres some typical college bars and beach pubs but you have to have awake to have any fun. if you don't have one...dont bother.

UNCW is known for its random rain showers and flooding conditions when the storm actually gets bad. They told me before my freshman year to invest in a raincoat, rainboots, and an umbrella - it was worth it! Otherwise, it's almost always warm here. I continued to comfortably go to the beach until mid-November, and even in December we had a week of warm weather. It rarely snows here, but we do get threatened with a hurricane at least once a year.

UNCW is one of the least diverse places I have come across in the south. We have many different races here, but they're such a small percentage of the student body that you could walk around all day and only see white men and women. UNCW tries to say it is very diverse and on the part of the faculty it is trying, but I don't see this changing in the near future.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
