Guys & Girls:
Large Variety – There are preppy people, artsy/hipster people, gamers, skaters, jocks, etc. You'll find lots of people in gym clothes who work out and go for a run and then another handful who dress up to class daily. It just depends, but I love how everyone is unique and has their own style! To add, there aren't any cliques; everyone is super friendly and open-minded

Close to Campus! There are so many off-campus locations to choose from, especially near campus. It's easy to bike, walk, or skateboard to class and there's definitely parking available if you live pass the "one-mile radius" rule from campus.

Not Much – There isn't much nightlife. Most people don't go to the clubs downtown anymore and the beach bars are for 21 and up. There are many more house parties but a lot of them aren't within walking distance and end up getting busted by the police a lot of times.

Lots of Rain – The weather is really nice in Wilmington most of the time but it can change at the spur of the moment. For example, you can go to class in the sunshine and come out to a torrential downpour!

Mostly Sunny With a Chance of Hurricanes – It's almost always great weather in Wilmington. This winter was especially great... it didn't get below 55 the whole season. Summer starts early and everyone comes to class in their swim suit coverups and flip flops. But when it rains it pours. The campus floods really easily and it can come on suddenly without warning. If you forget your umbrella and rainboots on those days, you're kind of screwed. But hey, nothing is perfect, and UNCW is pretty darn close.

Guys & Girls:
So Many Girls! I'm a girl at UNCW and I must say I have a lot of competition amongst the other girls. Everyone has kind of a beachy vibe though and I love that about this school. There are a lot of hot guys, especially as they get older and less freshman-y. I'm a senior now and I'm pretty sure the guys have gotten better looking each year. Long boards and tanktops are definitely a turn on for me - if you don't agree then maybe you won't find your soul mate here ;)

Not Bad, Not Great – There are a fair amount of restaurants catered to college students in the area - cheap and pretty good. But when I go to other cities I realize that Wilmington lacks a few essentials... Not much ethnic diversity in the dining department and no really healthy options to speak of. I love Wilmington so much, but it would be nice to see some growth in this aspect.

I recieved a decent amount of student aid, but the process was a hassle. I also tried applying for numerous scholarships. these were not only hard to find, but complicated.

UNCW Bleeds Teal! UNCW embraces each and every sporting event that takes place on campus, whether that be varsity, club, or intramural. I always have a blast at the varsity basketball games, watching everyone sport their teal and enthusiastically cheer on their fellow classmates. Personally, I partake in both club and intramural sports, and was happily surprised to find how excited and committed both my teammates and competition were. One of my favorite UNCW traditions is known as "Teal Tuesday" as it is so neat to see the campus unite and wear their teal with pride. Currently, the Student Recreation Center is under renovation, but is planned to be completed in the upcoming year. Once finished, it will include an indoor olympic-size pool, an outdoor leisure pool in the shape of our Seahawk logo, two new multipurpose courts, and an expanded free weight and cardiovascular machine area, in addition to its current 30 foot rock climbing wall, suspended track, and group exercise studio. Varsity sports are not permitted to use the SRC for practice, as its purpose is to serve all of our students. All in all, UNCW will be more than capable of accommodating your athletics interests, no matter the type or level of intensity.

Warm weather a lot. The only concern is during hurricane season. It snows cats and dogs.

Beach Blast – Everyone's favourite social part of UNCW is Beach Blast. Free food and transportation to the beach. One huge party!

Health & Safety:
Really Safe – Always feel safe on campus, and trust to be alerted if something happens.

Really Great Experience – Freshmen dorms are decent, but after freshmen year there are great dorms. They are huge apartments!

Drugs Are Prevalent, but Aren't Necessary for Friends – There are social situations and settings where drinking is extremely prevelant, however people don't look at you differently if you choose not to partake. Also there are tons and tons of settings and things for people to do if they don't want to be around drugs or alcohol.

Lots of Options – There are lots of off-campus housing options near UNCW and most are affordable and in good neighborhoods.

Guys & Girls:
Everyone Is Very Fit – UNCW is a fairly athletic school and I would say most people (guys and girls) are more fit than those at other schools.

Near the Beach – Campus is 10 minutes from the beach; what more can you want! Downtown Wilmington also has lots to do both during the day and at night. During the day the atmosphere is very family friendly and there are plenty of bars and clubs downtown at night.

Its pretty hot and humid in the summer but very nice and perfect beach weather! The winter is chilly and windy, but not too bad. When it rains, it pours.

UNCW is my home away from home. After the time I have spend on this wonderful campus surrounded by this amazing community I know for a fact that I would not be happy at any other University. UNCW is a great school both academically and socially. As a coastal school there is a social life but don't get the wrong impression, UNCW is a place of higher learning. We may go to class in our flip-flops, but we do go to class. Come to Wilmington and let us show you what it's all about to be a Seahawk.

On Campus but Not Necessary for a Social Life – If you want to be involvd they are thre buy there are so many other things on campus that you get involved in that it's not necessary to be involved in Greek life to be involved on campus.
College Junior 2012-06-01T22:42:04Z
Perfect Location – There are so many things to do around the town of Wilmington. Beautiful scenery, endless things to do and of course the beach five minutes away. Not to mention Independence Mall and Mayfaire Shopping center also located less than 10 minutes away from the campus. Downtown has the beautiful riverfront and many little shops to keep you busy! There is always something to do around Wilmington!

I have found that Biology is a hard subject but the teachers here make the subject very interesting and I love learning about it! There is also so many opportunities to jump in and help with a professor's research.

It's What You Make of It – Greek life can be great for meeting new people and getting involved. Certainly does not dominate the social scene however

Freshman dorms aren't great but they're an experience. Options are much better after your freshman year.

History Major Is Excellent! The professors really know what they are talking about in this program! I learned so much from them. The work for a History major is pretty intense, however it prepares you for graduate work! There are internship opportunities along with independent study with faculty members which can help with an honors project.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
