Though the majority of students at UNCW are what the average Southern college student is- white Christians- the university is extremely accepting of all races, religions, and sexual orientations. There are clubs of all kinds for every imaginable group on campus, and the school has official offices for African-American, Hispanic, LGBT, and other minority affairs. Also, there are a fairly large number of international students.

Options Aplenty in Wilmington – Virtually any restaurant you can think of is in Wilmington. Directly beside the campus is a Cookout, and Hardee's, Taco Bell, McDonald's, and Burger King are all immediately around the campus as well. If you venture just a little farther, there are plenty of local dining options with amazing prices and even better food. Then there are all the big names, like IHOP, Olive Garden, Applebee's, Hooter's, and everything you can think of. Many places have student discounts, but at the very least they are all extremely friendly. If you're in Wilmington, make sure you check out PT's Grill. Best burgers you will ever taste in your life.

Health & Safety:
Great Emergengy Control – emergengy phones every 500 feet. Lots of lighting. campus police are always crusing the campus. I feel safe and happy

I am very pleased with the university I choose. Good professors, small classes, and beautiful campus

Not Well Enough Informed – I am not personally well enough informed about the on campus financial aid program. I recieved my money through FAFSA, but from what I have heard from others the alumni scholarship program here at UNCW offers ample opportunities for financial aid, you just have to seek information.

If I Could Do It Again I'd Do It the Same – Although there are things that I feel UNCW lacks of the traditional college experience, like a football team or a more involved greek life, the utterly unique factors of this school are unline any other. I have the beach just a quick car ride away, I have excelled in my classes alongside equally talented individuals, the campus is gorgeous- not to big not too small, and I have become closer friends with people here then I ever did in all my other years of schooling. I love being a Seahawk.

Guys & Girls:
I See a New Hottie Every Day – Being a girl from a small town options in the boy department were limited and lame. Coming to UNCW has been heaven, the guys are all extremely attractive, and the majority of them I have been able to hold good conversations with. All of my friends that are girls here are pretty and confident but at the same time brilliant.

Great cost, plethora of choices on the menu. Best spot in town.

Internet Weak for Macs – Although the network is great when connected, Mac users find themselves constantly reconnecting their wifi. Only the ethernet will guarantee a steady internet connection. Otherwise, great wifi.

Beautiful City – Wilmington has many attractions such as the beach and a beautiful downtown.

Small Feel in a Big Town – Wilmington has a ton to offer to everyone! There's the beach and downtown the waterfront is beautiful. There are plenty of hang out spots and restaraunts to choose from. Only 2 hours from Raleigh. People are friendly and it is a very relaxed atmosphere.
Beach Blast! Being near the beach is a huge part of this school. It's also well known for its marine biology program. The school is always improving, it seems like there's a new building or something being renovated every year. Overall it's a great environment, great people and a great location.

Laid Back – Everyone is super friendly and willing to work with you if you need help. Some policies are kind of strict if you're a freshman, but if you don't make it obvious that you're doing something wrong you'll be fine.

If you are interested in that sort of thing, it's great. The frats and sororities are definitely favored as far as funding. Most people who are not involved don't really like members.

UNCW Summary – Work load is about equivalent to high school. Majors are somewhat restricted so make sure they offer the major that you want before you apply
College Senior 2011-10-18T23:37:26Z
Expensive and Hard to Get – The parking permits, to the best of my memory, cost about $250 for a year. On campus parking is only available to upperclassmen and underclassmen have to park off campus and take a bus to campus

Hurricane Season!! We are on the Atlantic Coast so UNCW is almost always affected by hurricanes during the first few weeks of classes. It never snows here, maybe once a year if you are lucky, but it rains a lot. Bring your rainboots.

Not Very Diverse – The city of Wilmington is very diverse, but the university is predominantly white. There are minorities, but not in excess. It would be nice if there were more diversity.

Expensive and Not That Great – Wag is probably the most convenient place if you have a meal plan with swipes. Meal plans are way overpriced but required if you live on campus. Good luck not gaining the freshman 15!
College Junior 2011-09-28T21:11:03Z
Sororities Have the Women – Best looking girls anywhere and most of them are in a sorority. There isn't too much difference between the Greek students and non Greek.

Sporting Events Are Fun – Basketball games can get pretty wild. Other sporting events are always a good time. Only negative is we don't have a football team.
