Public transportation is really good around UNCW. They have buses running all the time, except at night. You'll need to get a taxi number for that.

I think there is a wide variety of people and their beliefs on campus. Sexual orientation is also very diverse and with the diversity their is a group that you can join that can make the diversity feel homely

Parking on campus is REALLY expensive, almost not worth it. And the permit parking is strongly enforced if you get caught in the wrong spot its a 25 dollar ticket however, their isn't enough parking for everyone which makes things difficult

UNCW has so many options on getting to a computer or internet. Through the vast amount of computers in each building, the iprint that are available from any location really and connect very easily to your personal computer. However, since UNCW switched to Hawk-wifi it is difficult to get a good connection on your personal computer and even harder to stream movies or watch netflix

I really can't say much good nor bad about off campus housing due to the fact that I live on campus

UNCW is diverse in all aspects except for race/ethnicity. Whites account for about 83% of the student population, followed by 5% Black, 5% Hispanic, 2% Asian, and 5% other. UNCW is still pretty accepting of all types of people, even though it lacks diversity in the race/ethnicity aspect.
College Sophomore 2013-10-20T23:36:40Z
UNCW has a very diverse campus, I see some of the different ethnicity groups sticking together. Not everyone is educated on accepting different diversities. But for the most part, everyone is accepting and welcomes different diversities here with open arms.

Not sure, I'm not in greek life, but its pretty prevelant at UNCW. lots of frat parties around. Always see them raising money for their philanthropies. They seem pretty involved.

Strict but you can still get away with things. If you live in the dorms, the RA's are pretty strict about most of the rules. At the apartments on campus, you have a little more leeway.

With the campus only being about 3 miles from Wrightsville Beach, there's always something to do. Whether it be riding your bike on the cross-city trail or hitting the bars downtown, Wilmington is never dull. The weather is wonderful throughout the year. The hot summers are easily cooled with a splash in the blue waters of Wrightsville. The shopping at Mayfaire is marvelous. Everyone wears friendly faces everyday due to the love of the school itself.

Parking is absolutely ridiculous. The lots are spread across campus but are limited to the students who can park in each lot. I live in the University Suites on campus and our lot has about 50 spots for the 500 people who live in the Suites and Schwartz together. The lucky ones who get to park in the 'up-front' spots soon feel the fright of walking from the lot in the woods, over a bridge, and then back to our living spaces once they pull out of their good spots. Off campus students are not allowed to park in the library parking lot until after 4 o'clock. The library has limited parking and when it comes to exam time, there is no where to park.

I'm from out of state and I received nothing

I love the dining places at UNCW. There are 3 to choose from. They update their menu online and keep the buildings clean and enjoyable.
College Sophomore 2013-10-13T17:26:10Z
I feel that the facilities are very accessible. They are within walking distance of anywhere on campus. They are clean and the faculty and staff are always happy to be at work!

The computer availability on campus is pretty decent, depending on what time of the semester it is. You can typically find a computer somewhere in the library at any time of the day, unless it is around exams. No need for a personal printer, but you will need a personal computer. Printing is pretty cheap at UNCW and there is a printer in basically every building. The only negative thing about computers at UNCW is the wifi. The wifi is so faulty sometimes and you will get slow connection or kicked off if there are too many people on it.

If you are parking on campus, make CERTAIN that you have a valid parking sticker...otherwise you will be fined $25. Don't think that you will get lucky, either, because they patrol every parking lot constantly. You really don't need a car on campus, but if you're traveling back and forth from home, it's nice to have. Parking spaces are typically easy to find, but sometimes they may be overcrowded and you'll have to park slightly far away.

I love wag! Wag is the best dining hall for variety. If you are looking for good pasta and sandwiches, Dubs is the place to go. Hawks Nest has a variety of well-known restaurants but it gets boring after a while. Still good to go to, though. Obviously the three coffee shops on campus: Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, and Port City Java are all delicious places for a coffee break. I recommend it all! It's great!

I really haven't received much financial aid at all. I know this has to do with my parent's income, but college is expensive and I'm still responsible for paying half of it when I graduate. If you are looking to get scholarships or financial aid, I would just email or go directly to the financial aid department and request a form to apply to be eligible for financial aid. It is worth a shot.

All the professors seem to know what they are teaching and do well. The workload will depend upon your major. We provide SI session which is paid student to provide assistance to younger students who need extra help in a subject.

I am a biology major and our program is pretty large. We have a building dedicated to Biology and Chemistry. We have great teacher who are willing to help you. My workload is pretty normal I am taking 16 hours. The curriculum is pretty normal and take a large number of hours.

Greek life has events on campus. It's not a huge deal at UNCW. You have more opportunities to go out and party. It's expensive to be apart of a frat or sorority.
College Junior 2013-09-11T00:48:24Z
UNCW offers free public transportation for all students with your ID and shuttles to anywhere within a mile of campus. After hours, they even have a point-to-point shuttle.

There are many offered scholarships, but it is very difficult to receive scholarships as an out-of-state student
College Junior 2013-09-11T00:44:36Z
Upper class-men housing is nice, but it is cheaper so live off-campus. Freshman dorms could definitely be more spacious, but they are bare able.
College Sophomore 2013-08-24T21:52:41Z
There are some apartments near the campus that are very nice and not too pricey with a roommate or two. Nearby houses are also pretty cheap, but a little bit further away (and sometimes less safe).
Sorry, there are no reviews.
